BREAKING: The African Penguin is now classified as Critically Endangered.

The bird has already lost 97% of its population and could be extinct in less than 4,000 days if nothing changes.

The International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN) has uplisted the African Penguin from Endangered to Critically Endangered, underscoring the species’ extremely high risk of extinction in the wild.

Facing threats like climate change and competition from commercial fishing, African Penguins struggle to access enough food, particularly around their breeding colonies.

Conservation groups, like SANCCOB and BirdLife South Africa, are calling for stronger protections to help this species survive.

Such intelligent creatures, they literally have the mentality of your house cat. Next time you order calamari, think twice … you are eating a cat 🤢

They also have more than one brain! 🧠 Each “arm” has its own brain, allowing it to complete tasks quickly and more effectively.

Incredibly, each arm is able to think independently - they can taste, touch and move on their own.
