Approach the Cape mountains in a whole new way. There are easily accessible climbing routes only a 15 minute drive from Kommetjie at the Silvermine Nature Reserve.

Pictured here is the Lower Silvermine crag with an easy climb on a fun climb called Flakes and on a more ambitious grade 22 called Alpha & Omega.

It’s quite something to live 500 meters from the beach and have mountains only a few minutes away.

Take a gentle 12 kilometre walk on the flat sands of Noordhoek Beach starting at Long Beach and walking the sandy coastline all the way to Noordhoek corner and back again.

We paid a visit for a beautiful sunset dinner and enjoyed the spectacular views from the sundowner deck. The food was thoughtfully curated and tasty. And don’t forget that The Aegir Project is actually a brewery!

Only a 15 minute drive from Kommetjie and you reach the local fishing harbour of Kalk Bay. If it’s a local experience you’re after then you don’t get a more Capetonian experience than this. Kalky’s fish n chips are excellent served simply in a big cardboard box and eaten on the wooden tables outside. If you’re after a more discerning meal then head across the carpark to Harbour House, Live Bait or Tigers Milk - all have stunning ocean views and a menu to choose a fabulous meal. The main attraction are the bright vibrant colours of the boats and the Harbour wall filled with fishermen and families at sunset. Head down and meet the locals while you eat your fish ‘n chips. You won’t regret it!

BEACHES ARE OPEN!!!! We had a crazy few weeks of beach lockdown and we are so happy to report that beaches are now open. We enjoyed our first evening back on the beach yesterday and it was awesome! Start planning your holiday for next summer in the Cape.

Have you ever walked the coast from Muizenberg Surfers Corner to Kalk Bay? It’s a gorgeous walk along the seafront and then towards St. James Beach (colourful huts) to Dalebrooke Tidal pool with the cafe just across the road. Their coffee and Apple Pie are ridiculously good! Then walk on towards Kalk Bay harbour (train track and beach). There are just too many great sights to post at once, so why don’t you head on over and take a look for yourself.

We have been very blessed with full time tenants until 31 October 2021 and are already looking forward to having Airbnb guests again next Summer.

We love that guests get to enjoy the beautiful area where we get to live.

Venture from your doorstep with a short 10 minute drive to the Conservation Village of Scarborough. As you enter the village make a stop (3rd restaurant on the left) for some great food and enough space to socially distance effectively. It also has a sweet rustic play place for smaller kids and lots of outdoor tables. The camel pizza oven was the cherry on top for me along with friendly staff and quick service. We will definitely visit again.

Such good food so close to home! We are very blessed to have some really great local restaurants that serve good food. is one of those spots. And if you’re an outdoorsy walking / cycling type then it’s only 1.3km from door to door through the suburb of Kommetjie. Look them up for some awesome food and local craft beer. (And coffee... I like a good coffee)

Not sure what to do now that the beaches are closed? Why not take a stroll from Fishoek corner to Simon’s Town along the coast ending at Boulders beach with a visit to the penguins. There are plenty quirky coffee shops, antiques and arty spots to keep you busy for hours.
