Roadworks are planned from September along Govan Mbeki Road (M9) between the NY72 and Klipfontein intersections. This is in preparation for the planned MyCiTi Phase 2A rollout and the public are invited to an information day.

Motorists are advised of a temporary detour due to a road closure on Govan Mbeki Road between Jan Smuts Street and Hanover Park Avenue this weekend, Saturday 24 and Sunday 25 August. Those travelling from the Wynberg side towards Philippi will be diverted via Jan Smuts Street with the help of signage and flag personnel.

Residents in Mitchells Plain are advised that the next phase of MyCiTi construction on AZ Berman Drive is planned from 22 August 2024 for approximately nine months.

The two lanes serving traffic toward the R300 will be closed between Nduli Street and Petunia Street. The two lanes serving traffic in the opposite direction will accommodate traffic in both directions.

The City thanks residents and road users for their support and urges motorists to factor in extra travel time and to follow the signage and flag personnel that have been deployed to keep traffic moving safely.

Road users on Govan Mbeki Road are advised of a temporary lane closure between Entrance 2 of the Lansdowne Corner Shopping Centre and the Cotte Road intersection from 16 August until December 2024. The lanes towards Gugulethu will be closed while the lanes toward Wetton Circle will accommodate traffic in both directions.
• The eastbound lanes (towards Gugulethu) will be closed to traffic.
• The westbound lanes (towards Wetton Circle) will temporarily accommodate traffic in both directions.

Roadworks will soon commence in Philippi along Govan Mbeki Road(M9) as part of the planned MyCiTi Phase 2A rollout. Work will commence in August for approximately two and a half years and the public are invited to an information day.

The MyCiTi construction team working along AZ Berman Drive is required to undertake after-hours work on AZ Berman Drive between Nduli Street and Petunia Road, between 20:00 and 05:30 from 7 June until 11 June 2024, including the weekend.

Roadworks along , between Highlands Drive and Nduli Street, will commence from 26 October 2023. The sidewalk on the western side will be under construction and pedestrians are requested to please use the sidewalks on the eastern side of AZ Berman Drive during this approximately three-week long period. The improved facilities for walking and cycling are part of the future MyCiTi bus service.
All road users are urged to approach the area with caution and to follow the temporary signage around the construction site.
