We love sharing these experiences - visiting new places, eating at mouthwatering restaurants, hiking up mountains and everything in between. Interestingly, we had an epiphany to start this page at the Diving Board of Table Mountain, and we've loved sharing our unique experiences and perspectives with you! Here's a fun fact about us - even though we look like adults we are basically children inside 😂 When we were in Outdshoorn, we came across this camel ride and honestly we really wanted to do it! The people we bought the tickets from and those guiding the camels found it so funny that we wanted to do this ride meant for kids, but we did anyway and had a blast! So now it's one of those things that became a funny story 😛

Travel myth: Traveling is always expensive.

Truth: It doesn't have to be! Depending on how many you are when you're traveling, it can be made affordable by finding deals, or picking priorities. For instance, if you want to enjoy the cuisine of the place you're staying at, perhaps pick a more budget friendly accommodation. Also always remember to check multiple sites for the same accommodation - you might find a better price 😉

𝒀𝒐𝒖 𝒄𝒂𝒏'𝒕 𝒃𝒆 𝒊𝒏 𝑶𝒖𝒕𝒅𝒔𝒉𝒐𝒐𝒓𝒏 𝒂𝒏𝒅 𝒏𝒐𝒕 𝒈𝒐 𝒉𝒆𝒓𝒆! Save this!

𝗧𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝗼𝗽𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻𝘀: You have a choice between two tours. 1️⃣ Heritage Tour: Takes 1 hour and goes through the 3 main caves, each with its own significance (more in pt). 2️⃣ Adventurers Tour: This goes deeper into the caves, requiring visitors to crawl through tight spaces and climb a bunch of steps. It is not recommended for those who are prone to claustrophobia.

𝐇𝐨𝐰 𝐭𝐨 𝐛𝐨𝐨𝐤: There isn't an online booking system, and the website recommends that you email to book. In our experience though, we didn't get a confirmation until we called. If you do that, you can get a booking number too, and pay for your tour when you arrive. Alternatively, you can get away with walking in if you want to wing it 😜 Tours run every hour from 9am to 4 pm. The basic tour costs R170 pp and is run on a daily basis excluding weekends 😀

We love caves. But Cango Caves was beyond mesmerizing. There is just something so beautiful about rocks. The way they form into their shapes and change through the impact of the environment around them. If you are a fan of rocks, caves and learning about history through such landmarks, this is a must visit.

We've been waiting years to visit, and it was definitely worth making the trip. It holds a huge historic significance - indigenous Khoisans occupied these caves as early as the stone ages.

We took the heritage tour that runs every hour with experienced guides taking you through the caves and sharing with you intricate details and some really cool facts about rock formations. You will enter the cave through a gate structure where you will be greeted by models depicting Khoisans who lived there and the spaces that they occupied.

From there, your guide will take you to the first chamber of the first cave. This part of the cave was also occupied by Khoisans centuries ago. Your guide will show you how so many rocks spill from either the top or the bottom of the cave to form stalactites (dropping from the ceiling) or stalagmites (rising from the floor). These formations occur through water seeping through the caves over hundreds of years, creating calcium carbonate and the formation.

Since this isn't an overnight process, it's even more amazing to see a formations that looked like the Leaning Tower of Pisa, and another that depicted Cleopatra’s Needle. We also had a whole new appreciation for all the light inside when we saw that the Khoisans basically used one tiny candle in that immense and almost absolute darkness.

The second chamber of the first cave and the following caves were unlivable, but your tour guide will continue to show you various cool rock formations. The second cave follows with rock formations of a honeymoon and 200-300 babies formed over 100 years, while the third cave that had a translucent formation of a drum that when beaten acts like an actual drum. Funnily enough, you will also have access to rock "washrooms" here 😝

We have, of course, just touched on the surface of everything you will see when you visit, with many finer details that you will get to discover during the tour.

Local is lekker 😏⤵️

Yummy bagels and burgers anyone? Keen to visit a vibing suburb in the Cape? Look no further than in Observatory, with delicious meals and friendly staff 👌

We have tried their breakfast and chicken mayo bagel for one of our previous meals and loved the flavours in both. From the lunch menu, we tasted their buttermilk chicken and beef burgers, both were mouthwatering to say the least, and S still remembers the taste of that buttermilk chicken burger in her mouth. That good 🤤🤤 We enjoy our meals with a variety of veggies, and you get that with Mo’s food.

Pro tip: Just make sure to check their timings before venturing out ⏰

In terms of drinks, we recommend the juices for a cold drink or their caramel latte!

They are budget friendly as well, so you can expect to spend about R100-R150 per person for food, drinks and a tip 😁

Unpopular opinion loading 👀 Today we introduce you to our thoughts on the @thebutcherswifesa . A popular spot for a lot of Capetonians and one of our favourite spots in Athlone for pasta, pizza and milkshakes that are absolutely yummmm. Let’s start with the pizzas. What we love about all of their pizza options is that they are perfectly made with a crunchy base and ingredients that are balanced just the right way. Our favourite pizza option is their Chicken Tikka which melts into your mouth the minute you crunch the first bite. Another favourite of ours is the Chicken Kebab gourmet pizza. Their pasta options also stood out to us. The classic meatball pizza and spaghetti bolognese are hands-down the best; simple and tasty. The portion size is a bit smaller but not a deal breaker. For our next visit, we are definitely going to try another pasta option. For drinks, we have had their oreo and bubblegum milkshake and fresh juices. All of them have refreshed us and we can’t wait to try more. While we don’t generally have desserts there, their churros with chocolate option is warm and perfect for the winter. If you had asked us what we think about go karting until December 2023, we would have replied by saying “loud and not that much fun”. That was the experience we had - mainly indoor go karting - which we didn't enjoy too much. But theeeeeeen we tried the outdoor option with the Xtreme Outdoor Karting folks and our opinion changed entirely. Their track is outdoors so you enjoy the beautiful nature and sun beaming while driving. It is also wider and spacier giving you good space to pick up speed*(with safety of course), manoeuvre and enjoy a good game with other riders in your team. The noise of the go kart engines also doesn't sit with you as you are riding since it's outdoors. During summer and the festive period, they were open every day, but currently they are exclusively open during the weekend. They can also cater to you from Wednesday to Friday, provided you have a 2-hour minimum booking. Packages vary depending on whether you are booking as a group or as an individual. READ HERE 👇 PRICES AND BOOKING INSTRUCTIONS BELOW Sand here, sand there, sand everywhere 😋 The Atlantis Dunes are the closest thing to a desert in Cape Town. Plus, they're the adrenaline junkie’s dream with lots of fun options available to explore this beautiful spot. We chose to explore the scenic views of the dunes with quad bikes from the @wildxadv Team. The ride starts with a quick demo on how to ride the bikes; the bikes have a very small learning curve so you will be going in no time. If you are booked at the same time slot as other guests, the guides will gather you and then lead you through the dunes. Having said that, there is not a lot of “guiding” per se as the tour mostly includes a ride across the dunes with a WildX staff member leading the group. There are also many limitations with speed, due to safety reasons of course, but that can dampen the experience slightly. What we loved though was our guide’s willingness to stop along the way and snap pictures of groups with their creative poses. The normal rate for the quad bikes is R1000 pp but there are plenty of cost-saving options that can go all the way to 50%. We booked our trip at R500 pp and had to call their team to schedule a visit.
