EXPERIENCE NEW OFF-THE-BEATEN-TRACK ROADS AND PLACES – MAKE USE OF THE PUBLIC HOLIDAYS

WHERE – DRIVE 32° LATITUDE SOUTH. STARTING AT LAMBERT’S BAY AND ENDING AT COFFEE BAY IN THE TRANSKEI.

WHEN – 25 APRIL – 4 MAY 2025.

GUIDE – COENIE MOLL.

Here is another popular Latitude South trip Cederberg 4x4 is facilitating. Making use of the public holidays you only need to take three days leave to enjoy a nine day overland adventure driving off-the-beaten-track gravel roads and visiting places not normally visited. On all Latitude South trips we traditionally collect water from the Atlantic Ocean in a calabash and transport it as close as possible along the imaginary line of 32° Latitude South and deposit it into the Atlantic Ocean. The trip will begin in Lambert’s Bay where a calabash of water from the Atlantic Ocean will be collected and end at Coffee Bay in the Transkei where the water will be deposited in the Indian Ocean.

As we do not know how far and along which roads we will be traveling each day, no advance bookings can be made. This adds to the adventure and mystique of the trip. Enroute on previous latitude trips, the Cederberg 4x4 group has made use of many interesting places to set camp as close as possible to 32° Latitude South for the night. Generally farmers are very helpful, offering Cederberg 4x4 and the group the opportunity to set camp on their farm. This has varied from dry riverbeds, dry dams, overhanging rock formations to making use of unused farm houses for shelter. Alternating we will also make use of official campsites with facilities close to 32° Latitude South along the way. Enroute time will be spent at places of interest. To further your curiosity, take a map and plot 32° latitude south and see the interesting places enroute you going to experience. You might even want to try and calculate where we will be setting camp each night. Enjoy!!!!!

See attached agenda for more information.

STILL NOT SURE WHAT TO DO THIS COMING EASTER WEEKEND

ENJOY A RELAXING FAMILY ORIENTATED WEST COAST MEANDER WITH CEDERBERG 4X4

WHERE – DRIVE AS CLOSE AS LEGALLY POSSIBLE TO THE OCEAN BETWEEN HONDEKLIBAAI AND LUTZVILLE.

WHEN – 18 -21 APRIL 2025

The West Coast of South Africa is one of the most remote sections of our country. One of the main reasons for the low population in this region is the fact that there is very little fresh water available. This being said it makes this destination first choice when wanting to visit off-the-beaten-track places away from Wi-Fi and cell phone reception. For days of absolute bliss.

Camp will only be set once just south of Groen River mouth only a stone throw away from the ocean. During our visit to the West Coast we will visit Hondeklipbaai, stopping at places of interest and explore the many small coves and bays enroute back to the camp. The crayfish season is open for the period we will be on the coast. Remember to bring the necessary permits if you intend harvesting something from the ocean. There will be activities for the children and adults are welcome to bring beach games to be enjoyed by all. On the last day of the trip we will head south for Gert du Toit-se-Baai passing active mining activities and a wreck of a ship which ran aground recently.

For more information about the trip see the complete agenda go to https://cederberg4x4.co.za/agendas/wstcoastapril25.htm . To secure your place for the Easter Weekend trip to the West Coast, contact Coenie for a booking form via e-mail [email protected] or on one of the numbers listed below requesting a booking form.

TWEAK AND HONE YOUR SAND DRIVING SKILLS IN ATLANTIS DUNES

Cederberg 4x4 will be hosting a Sand Driving/Refresher/Get to Know your Vehicle Course

WHERE – Atlantis Dunes, also known as Witzands Aquifer, entrance on the R307 (Dasselberg Drive).

WHEN – Sunday 13 April 2025.

TIME – 08h30 Sharp. Calculate your driving time to Atlantis Dunes so as not to be late. Respect your fellow participants and be on time.

Sand driving is great fun, but in my opinion, it is the most dangerous 4x4 driving you might encounter. The reason for my statement is simple. The secret to successful sand driving is correct tyre pressure and momentum/speed. The golden rule for safe and responsible 4x4ing is – “As slow as possible, as fast as necessary”. Even when enjoying sand driving the golden rules of 4x4ing still apply, with one big difference. Due to the speed factor, things happen much faster and quick driver’s response is required and the possibility of mishaps increases radically. These and many more important points will be discussed and practised during the Cederberg 4x4 Sand Driving/Refresher/Get to Know your Vehicle Course. Upon completion of the course, you would have built up the confidence to enjoy safe and responsible sand driving.

We strongly advise you consider bringing your spouse or friend to the Cederberg 4x4 Sand Driving/Refresher/Get to Know your Vehicle Course. From a safety point it is important to be prepared in the event of you being injured and unable to drive your vehicle, necessitating your spouse or friend to drive. Unfortunately, we cannot accommodate any children under the age of 16 on the day of the training. Thank you for understanding.

Cost
Atlantis Dunes entrance permit – R 250-00pv.
Driver – R1750-00pp.
Spouse or Friend – R 750-00pp.
Radio hire – R 200-00.

Catering
A light self-catered picnic lunch will be enjoyed in the dunes.

Important information
The following items may not be in your vehicle when entering Atlantis Dunes – alcohol, drones, firewood, charcoal, braai utensils and gas braai equipment. All vehicles are checked by Cape Nature staff.

We suggest you consider bringing an awning or sun umbrella, table and chair for the theory session.

Should you be interested in partaking in the Sand Driving/Refresher/Get to Know your Vehicle Course or require any additional information contact Coenie via e-mail ([email protected]) or contact me on one of the numbers listed below.

OUTSTANDING MEMBERSHIP RENEWALS FOR 2025
As previously stated in my mail correspondence to you there were members who were dishonest and abusing the system with regard to the renewal of their two-way licenses through ORRA. Thus the reason why the CRC annual membership dates were changed to being valid from 1 February to 31 January each year. At present there are still 79 CRC members that have not renewed their annual membership with CRC.

Cederberg 4x4 Radio Club will submit the names of CRC members that have renewed their annual membership before the end of January 2025 as required. In turn ORRA will only send out licence renewals around middel to end March 2025 to CRC members that have paid their annual membership. No exceptions in this regard will be made.

This is your last opportunity to renew your CRC membership enabling you to renew your two-way radio licence through ORRA and stay legal.

STILL HAVE PLACE AVAILABLE

MAKE USE OF THE PUBLIC HOLIDAY

YOU ONLY NEED FOUR DAYS LEAVE TO ENJOY A NINE DAY OVERLAND ADVENTURE

EXPERIENCE THE BEST SOUTHERN NAMIBIA HAS TO OFFER

Hugging the Orange River as close as possible between Onseepkans and Ausenkehr through Southern Namibian.

Where – Southern Namibia between Onseepkans and Ausenkehr.
Rendezvous - Red Rock River Camp on the bank of the Orange River at Onseepkans Border Post.
When – 15 March 2025.
Time – Arrive any time during the day. Plan your travelling time not to be late. Please arrive before 17h00.
Guide - Coenie Moll.

Exploring new places close to home makes any trip affordable and attractive. Very few people are aware that the Gariep River, forming the border between South Africa and Namibia, is still commonly referred to as the Orange River by locals in Southern Namibia. Starting at Onseepkans in the east, this trip will follow the Orange River as close as possible all the way to Ausenkehr in the west where the trip official ends. The rugged mountain ranges of southern Namibia have a big influence on the route we will follow along the river taking one to off-the-beaten-track places not visited on a regular basis. We will make use of existing camps along the river with good ablution facilities as well as a one night wilderness camp in true expedition style before reaching Noordoewer where fuel and supplies can be replenished. Each night camp will be set on the bank of the Orange River providing the opportunity to cool off in the river and even try your hand at fishing. Enroute there will be enough time for a half day river rafting trip for the more adventurous. These options will be discussed enroute.

See the agenda for more information about the trip at

Exploring new places close to home makes any trip affordable and attractive. Thus, the reason why Cederberg 4x4 is once again looking at exploring new off-the-beaten-track places in Southern Namibia. Very few people are aware that the Gariep River, forming the border between South Africa and Namibia, is still commonly referred to as the Orange River by locals in Southern Namibia. Starting at Onseepkans this trip will follow the Orange River as close as possible all the way to Ausenkehr in the west where the trip official ends. The rugged mountain ranges of southern Namibia have a big influence on the route we will follow along the river taking one to off the beaten track not visited on a regular basis. We will make use of existing camps along the river as well as a one night wilderness camp in true expedition style before reaching Noordoewer. Camp will be set on the bank of the Orange River each night where some of the unspoiled beauty of the region can be enjoyed. Time will be available for those opting to enjoy a half-day river rafting on the Orange River. These options will be discussed enroute.

Our Story

Our family oriented trips are guided by seasoned guides ensuring maximum enjoyment for all, with the minimum negative impact on the environment, while still having loads of fun. Feel the rush of adrenaline while driving exciting 4x4 trails in South Africa or enjoy the tranquillity and beauty of amazing destinations in Southern Africa. Most of our excursions will take you off-the-beaten-track, therefore, we require all participating vehicles to have low range capabilities, ensuring maximum safety at all times. Join us on a trip to Botswana in search of the Big Five. Enjoy the thrill of tiger fishing, with a fish eagle keeping an ever-watchful eye over your activities, before watching the sun set over the Okavango Delta. Fulfil your dream and visit the history-filled Namib Desert in Namibia where you will stand amazed at its vastness and beauty. Many other destinations with vast amounts of game, the beautiful Epupa Falls in Kaokoland or the Caprivi will be reason enough for you to visit Namibia. Zimbabwe is amazingly beautiful, with an abundance of wildlife, the famous Victoria Falls, Cariba, Mana Pools and the Zimbabwe Ruins.

Mozambique offers a unique historical and cultural heritage, spectacular landscapes, 2500km of coastline, scattered with endless coral reefs and tropical beaches. A mecca for scuba and snorkel divers, fisherman, sun worshippers and adventure explorers. The pristine coast is one of the few unexplored pleasures of the Indian Ocean and hosts a dazzling display of marine life.

Lake Malawi, a shimmering mass of glittering clear water, its depths are swarming with colourful cichlid fish. Whether it's diving, snorkelling, kayaking or chilling out on one of its desert islands, a visit to the lake is a must. The Warm Heart of Africa is beating faster now and the legendary welcome is there for all who wish to experience the unrivaled combination of Lake, Landscape & Culture in one of Africa's most beautiful and compact countries. Oh, then there's the spectacular mountain scenery of Lesotho, the Mountain Kingdom. A magnificent opportunity to explore nature still little changed by man, still unspoilt by crowds of tourists, and to appreciate the untamed but beautiful landscapes of the soaring Maluti and Drakensberg mountains. Most of our excursions, locally as well as in neighbouring countries, are offered as self-catering and camping, making them affordable compared to the more upmarket options of visiting destinations where accommodation and meals are included. Should you be new at 4x4ing or have a new vehicle, Cederberg 4x4 offers 4x4 Driver Training at Altydgedaght Wine Estate, Durbanville for the theory and mountain/ rock training and Atlantis Dunes for the sand section of the training. Cederberg 4x4 has successfully facilitated tailor-made Corporate 4x4 Activities for numerous companies over the past 14 years. To ensure maximum enjoyment, whilst still adhering to environmentally friendly behaviour, all these activities are presented by a professional, experienced and accredited 4x4 guide. We look forward to meeting you.
