To finish off a beautiful day at the Point Waterfront, the MSC Musica leaving on its New Year cruise to Mauritius followed closely by the Azamara Quest. There were three cruise ships in port over the weekend. Lots of activity, beautiful sunny days to be followed in only a few days - 2025

Views from Seaside Holiday Apartments. A beautiful hot sunny Sunday. Fun relaxation for the whole family. Sit on the veranda and enjoy the view or go down to the beach and dive into the water. Dry off on the beach under an umbrella while the kids build sand castles. The Point Waterfront is a safe environment for the whole family to walk along the promenade, visit UShaka aquarium and water park. Sit and relax at one of the many coffee shops and restaurants - it’s all here 😀🏝️🏖️

MSC MUSICA BACK IN PORT EARLY.
She came in last night, Wednesday, through bad weather. Only due back tomorrow, Friday.
Still lots of entertainment on board and of course the stunning restaurant options.
A great holiday “ weather “ your out on the high seas or staying in a floating hotel in port.

MSC MUSICA IN PORT ON A THURSDAY AND THURSDAY NIGHT!
The weather was not kind and she had to return early. Saw her coming in last night and here she is this evening.
Passengers I’m sure are still having a great time. Just because your in port doesn’t stop you going to the shows, restaurants, bars and all the other activities onboard.

LOOK WHO’S BACK IN TOWN?
The MSC Musica arrived today for the start of the cruise season.
Leaving tomorrow, Friday for a 3 day trip to the Portuguese islands.
We can also expect a lot more other cruise ships arriving on our doorstep over the next 6months or so.
Summer has also definitely arrived with scorching days of 35 degrees plus!
Time to plan and book your next Seaside holiday.

The cruise season has definitely started. The Aida Stella with its characteristic eye and smile stopped in at our cruise terminal.
With a length of 253m and passenger capacity of 2190.
She’s easy to spot with that smile, eye and central entertainment theatrium.
There’s always something to see and do at the Point Waterfront.

MSC Cruises’ flagship vessel, MSC Euribia, made a historic technical stop at Durban’s Nelson Mandela Cruise Terminal on Wednesday.
At 331m long, 15 passenger decks and able to accommodate 6321 passengers she is truly a sight to behold.
She also runs on liquid natural gas making her environmentally friendly as well. Unfortunately she won’t be a part of our cruise season which officially starts on the 22nd of November

Well this is an interesting arrival at the cruise terminal! The Yuan Wang 7 ( stock photos, too obscured by the terminal ). A Chinese “ spy “ ship. Listed as a research vessel the Yuan Wang-class of tracking ships are used for tracking and support of satellite and intercontinental ballistic missiles by the People's Liberation Army Strategic Support Force of the People's Republic of China.
Quite an interesting looking vessel full of all sorts of gadgets!

The SA Surfski Eurosteel 2024 champs took place over this last weekend, the 13th July.
Flat sea conditions, sunny skies and no wind provided favourable conditions for the paddlers. Great viewing from Seasides front row apartments.

Hank McGregor and Josh Fenn powered away from the opposition over the final 100 metres to claim the men's title, while Kira Bester and Melanie van Niekerk broke away early in some "bumpy" swells they found to claim the women's national title.

Saturday the 13th July.
Durban is already starting to heave as many South African and international rugby lovers follow their beloved Teams into our lucky City. Hollywoodbets Kings Park has undergone 6 months of makeover in readiness for this big day. Today the Springboks arrived and conducted a pitch inspection (with happy faces all around), and we expect the Ireland team to come through soon.
With the game selling out in a record 1 hour and 45 minutes of going on sale, interest is massive for the 2nd Test with the Springboks having won last Saturday at Loftus stadium. If you happen to bump into anyone speaking in an Irish accent over the next few days, welcome them to our City, and wish them 'the luck of the Irish' for Saturday, because the feeling is that they will need it.
If you are lucky enough to have a ticket to the game, come early to avoid the congestion.. otherwise join the party by watching the game with family and friends at a local restaurant or pub.

This weekend Saturday the 29th June will see much activity offshore. With the multi day offshore regatta. Viewing from our front row apartments will be quite a spectacle. For those guests in our apartments, enjoy the view and take a walk late afternoon to see the Mirror dinghy’s on the beach.

The greatest shoal on earth! Here’s a couple of pics of what’s headed our way. Just netted off Umgababa and Margate. Soon to be spotted off Durban right in front of Seaside Holliday Apartments. Durban has been abuzz with comrades runners over the past few days with our regulars booking into our apartments. We wish them all the very best.

For your info the legendary Comrades Marathon is the world's oldest and largest Ultramarathon. The 97th running of Comrades Marathon 2024 will be back to an 'up run'. If the record-breaking Comrades 2023 is anything to go by, the celebration of The Ultimate Human Race in 2024 will be even bigger.

The Comrades was run for the first time on the 24th of May 1921 and has been run every year since, with the exception of World War II and, unfortunately, 2020 & 2021. The race was the brainchild of WWI veteran Vic Clapham to commemorate South African soldiers killed during the war. Clapham himself had endured a 2,700km trek through East Africa during the war and wanted the memorial to be a supreme test of physical endurance.

All the very best to all runners and event coordinators, stations along the way, medical aid and of course the cheering waving crowds lining the route. 🏃‍♀️‍➡️🏃🏽‍♂️‍➡️
