Singing and dancing is so ingrained in the African culture. At every camp I was greeted by a beautiful welcome choir and evenings were often accompanied by singing. Meet the Shinde staff choir giving it horns around the camp 🔥 #shinde #botswanasafari #recce
Meanwhile down in the Central Kalahari I was taken on a fascinating Bushman Walk where they demonstrated how their ancestors used to forage, hunt and survive in the bush. This is a great interactive walk for both children and adults alike. This is me pretending to be a bird with my hands getting caught in one of their bird traps made from rope cut from the grasses and using sweet gum from a tree as bait. They even used ground up zebra poo to make the 🔥. The ‘hunt’ ended with a celebratory dance around the fire accompanied by the bushmen ‘piano’ #dinakacamp #centralkalahari #botswanafamilysafari #recce
Drum roll please ….. may I introduce you to the one and only all time legendary Jacks Camp. Oozing style, sophistication, character in its bucket loads, and happens to be my pit for the night. Goodnight all 💤 😴 #bucketlist #mytopthreefavouritecampsinafrica #palace #botswanasafari #recce #sarahjamestravel

Day 1 - This is home for the next four days. An exclusive use mobile camp set up in 130,000 hectares of pristine private wilderness in the Okavango Delta. We flew in by helicopter from Maun, passing herds of elephant, buffalo, wilderbeest and zebra and the odd pride of lion. Can’t wait to get out an explore more of this area by foot, vehicle and more chopper action to come. #beagleexpeditions #botswanasafari #okavangodeltabotswana #experienceisthenewluxury #recce
What a finale to our Kenya trip - we spent time at the legendary Giraffe Manor in Nairobi hanging out with the Rothschild 🦒’s. In order to enjoy this totally unique experience you need to spend 2 nights here and we can add this at the start, middle or end of your safari. A total dream come true for children. So incredibly special to experience this with my family - an absolute bucket list. Thank you @thegiraffemanor for spoiling us! #luckyflorence #familysafari #familysafarikenya #highteawithgiraffes #whyilovekenya #sarahjamestravel
Camel 🐪 riding back from our bush breakfast. The girls loved the novelty of it - endless giggling whilst they were able to spot game in the distance from their newly elevated height. #kenyasafari #familysafari #whyilovekenya
Following on from last nights devastating news that the UK has put South Africa/Botswana/Namibia/Zimbabwe back on the Red list, our hearts go out to everyone who has been affected with cancelled holiday plans for Christmas. Everyone has their own heartbreaking story and the travel industry has taken another huge knock and is feeling the pain. Another wave we have all got to ride. This morning we went to our daughters end of year prize giving show here in Franschhoek, where they performed this poignant song that certainly hit a nerve with me, given what we are all going through. As always, we will pull through this and when we do, our beautiful country is waiting for you ❤️❤️❤️
Hitting the road again ..... heading into the Winterberg mountains for some farm life with friends
When the people stay away, the wildlife comes out to play. This has been sent to us from Simons Town, near time the famous Boulders beach - a Mecca for penguin viewing #sjtlockdown
Hang in there. This time will pass. A little bit of light ‘travel’ humour to lift the spirits today
Plopping into a tub of bubbles, in a canvas bath, overlooking the Kuka hills and the Serengeti beyond. Scenes at a timeless camp, full of stories, from a bygone era. @cottars1920 #familysafaris #meandmygirl #sarahjamestravel
