One thing I love about living where I live is the endless epic views and scenery, donkey isn't fond of the sea himself but I like it...
Friday missions without a plan are the best kind, see ya'll on the other side of the weekend...
Out and about doing cold things, am I alone in saying that I miss summer too much??? Remember what it was like to camp warm and dry... this too shall pass...
Haven't been camping much of late, seems my life has thrown me at the lodges for the time being, but when I do get to camp and have scenes like this my heart is full.
There is very little that competes with wild camping and the solidarity it gives you...
Let's for a second make the sun a person... do you think he/she complains about having to get up in the morning?!?!?! ππ€£
Mellow Sunday vibes!!!
What's better than taking a slow and casual drive along the Atlantic Seaboard? Popped some food in the oven, drinks on the fridge and had a lazy day of driving around...
SNEAKY LITTLE WEDNESDAY... Don't mind if I do ππ»
Am I alone? I see a puddle and it reads, "TO BE CONQUERED", I will drive through it and see if I get through it secretly hoping not to get stuck but secretly hoping I get to use my recovery gear for no reason!!!
It's not just a simple hand gesture...
βHang loose,β βRight on,β βThank you,β βThings are great,β βTake it easyβ β in Hawaii, the shaka sign expresses all those friendly messages and more.
For us it's a sign to show that life's good and we're enjoying it!!! So π€π»π€π»π€π»
Solid axle vehicles are not the greatest "flex" vehicles are they? Squeezing a much as I can here to the point of just lifting a wheel you can see the max flex donkey has.
Choosing ride comfort over anything else with the Terrain Tamer heavy duty parabolics and coils as well as the suspension has proved invaluable in our travels, never a beat missed with this setup.
What weekends are made for! The song says it all...
Wherever the weekend finds you have a good one ππ€π»
Never underestimate what a, "let's go for a quick drive" can turn into!
Any guesses as to where these were taken? Where are we?
How the Donkey has changed compared to when we got him and now...I don't wanna do maths on how he got to this point, the numbers might scare me!!!
Find that job you love and you'll never work a day in your life... we've all heard the saying, but are you actually living it? Have to admit I love what I do for a living!
It's never to late to turn your passion and dreams into YOUR reality...
If a Donkey started in the woods and there was no one there to hear it, would it even make a sound???
The great thing about spending time outdoors is that you get to appreciate sunsets every single day, African sunsets just never get old...
Name one thing you never saw yourself taking camping but now that you have it you wouldn't camp without it??? For us it's the Weber Q, no more waiting around for the fire to be ready just cook and eat and make the fire as big as you want...
Convoy driving is always fun, what makes it extra special is when you look back and capture moments like this... moments that stick with you forever!
What is overlanding really???
For us it's sharing outdoor experiences with like minded people who love their vehicles and share a passion for off road travel...
5 star, no thanks, 5 billion stars, yes please...
An epic weekend camp with same great people, Donkey doesn't only look good during the day but has some good presence at night as well.
I've never liked working lights on my vehicle and prefer underbody lighting, it's effective for creepy crawlies and lights not being in your face all the time.
Just too pretty not to share, on a recent tour I snapped this young 1:1 male with a kill in a tree being harassed by loads of hyena. They finally moved far away enough from the tree for him to dash for freedom. His mother and himself returned later on to collect the left behind prize.
Tough day at the office but someone needs to do it right!?!?!
Loving this new look on Donkey, can't stop staring at him now, not that I ever stopped! You know it's right when you keep turning back to look at him...
What weekends are all about, GETTING OUT THERE AND HAVING FUN!!!
Epic tunnel tour weekend with , some tough driving for an overland vehicle but we managed, kind of....
One of my "never leave home without it" items, my , tyre pressure and maintaining good pressure for your vehicle, yourself and the environment is essential when overlanding and making it easy even more so.
What tyre pressure to run is always situational and based on the individual vehicles and how they are kitted out. Less than 2mins to deflate and inflate...
The parts that take us anywhere and everywhere...
We've been using and testing parts for over 2 years now and I'm still blown away by them. After years of travel all over our country and others we've never been left stranded. Not only by the parts themselves but by the absolute backup service if needed by the team.
In the pics we feature one of the hidden gem camps in our Eastern Cape tour, a magical spot for sunset with incredible views. Not an easy place to get to and demanding on the vehicles but worth it in the end.
HOORAY FOR FRIYAY!!! Wherever you're camping this weekend have a good one ππ€π»
Leaving the mainland of Oman we now travel by ferry to our next destination, 2 ferry options, a short fast 1 hour trip (fast boat) or a 2 hour long crossing by a much cheaper ferry (slow boat). We opted for the cheaper slow boat which after the total waiting, crossing and disembarkment was about 3h30. We don't mind as the crossing is full of laughs, beers and awesome scenery. We're heading to Masirah Island.
Only thing I did mind was the smell of the fish truck we parked next to ππ€£
We're spending 2 our 3 days here to explore and look around, although I don't have pics but just video, I finally make friends with a group of camels that allow me to pet them and get really close up. I think the one female took a shining to me and even rested her head on my shoulder and kissed me on the first date.
Masirah Island is a gem, the locals are amazing, the good is cheap as chips but tastes amazing. It takes about 2 hours in total to circumnavigate the whole thing.
Loads of camels, loads of wells, fresh water from the earth, always wanted to use a proper well... we finally find out first turtle, sadly dead from the green tide but lots of tracks on the beach from others, let's hope we see more!
What an epic adventure so far π
