Ein individuelles Architektenhaus mit verschiedenen Ebenen, die durch kurze Treppen zu erreichen sind, und einem großen Balkon mit Holzdeck. Man kann praktisch aus jedem Raum den Ozean sehen, selbst aus der Badewanne in der oberen Etage :-). Man schaut weit oberhalb fremder Dächer auf die 30 Kilometer lange Sandbucht von Jeffreys Bay, in der sich auch immer wieder Delphine und auch mal Wale zeigen

. Wenn sich kein Meeresbewohner blicken lässt, laden die stets präsenten Surfer zum Zuschauen ein. In der Ferne bleibt der Blick schließlich an einer Bergkette hängen, die ca. 40-50 km entfernt ist. Es gibt 3 Hauptschlafzimmer und 1 Reserveschlafzimmer in der unteren Etage, so dass also auch bis zu 8 oder 9 Personen übernachten könnten. Das Haus besitzt eine voll ausgestattete große Küche mit allem Zubehör und Geschirr. Es gibt 2 Wohnzimmer, so dass sich eine kleine Reisegruppe auch mal aus dem Weg gehen könnte - wenn nötig ;-). Das obere Wohnzimmer, die Lounge, hat einen offenen Kamin, der eine herrlich gemütlich Atmosphäre an den meist ja etwas früher eintretenden Afrikanischen Abenden verschafft. Ausserdem sind auf den beiden Schlafetagen je ein Badezimmer mit Badewanne. Und es gibt noch ein zusätzliches Badezimmer mit Dusche. Die Toiletten sind in eigenen Räumen abgetrennt von den Badezimmern, so dass es morgens ganz sicher kein Gedrängel gibt. Der große Balkon ist so gelegen, dass er windgeschützt ist und die warme Sonne bereits am frühen Morgen zum Frühstück als Gast dabei ist. Für tagsüber oder abends steht ein fester Grill zur Verfügung. Das Haus und der Ort Jeffreys Bay sind ruhig und sicher. Für Paare, kleine Reisegruppen oder auch Eltern mit Kindern ist das Haus bestens geeignet. Wir haben selbst 3 Kinder, die den Urlaub mit uns dort lieben. Deshalb ist das blaue Zimmer (das Kinderzimmer) übrigens auch mit einem Etagenbett und einem Einzelbett ausgestattet. Geparkt werden kann direkt vor dem Haus oder auf Wunsch auch auf dem abgeschlossenen Grundstück. Zum Strand sind es ca. 800 Meter; 2 Autominuten oder 8 Fußminuten. Einkaufsmöglichkeiten sind im Ort mehrfach vorhanden. 4 Supermärkte, die 7 Tage die Woche geöffnet haben. Außerdem Billabong, viele Surfläden, eine Einkaufsmall, Tankstellen, Liquor Stores und diverse kleinere Läden. Es gibt recht gute Restaurants in Jeffreys Bay, so dass man innerhalb einer Woche problemfrei jeden Tag an einem anderen Ort lecker Essen gehen kann. Tipps gebe ich gerne auf Anfrage. Ausflugsziele: Addo Elephant Park (1,5 Std. entfernt), Plettenberg Bay -> Ocean Safari (1,5 Std.), Tsitsikamma Forest -> Urwaldtouren (1 Std.) Lombardini Game Farm (20 min.), Kraggakamma Game Park (40 min.), St. Francis Port for Fishing Tours (30 min), Lion Park Sea View (40 min), African Dawn (20 min) und vor Ort Surfen/Surfen lernen mit Andrew Moon, Reiten, Joggen, Radfahren, Muscheln sammeln (Jeffreys Bay ist bekannt für schöne Muscheln) oder richtig gut Essen gehen, ... kurz: Ferienhaus und Ort sind Erholung pur.

We continue to experience water outages and intermittend supply in some areas within the Lovemore Heights zone, KwaNobuhle 4 zone and Airport zone.

It literally takes days for a water reticulation system to replenish after being depleted. This is why we have to reduce demand or else we will continuously experience water outages accross the Bay!

The Financial Action Task Force (FATF) has placed South Africa on its grey list due to concerns about its capacity to fight financial crime.

However, FATF made it clear that South Africa has already made significant progress on many of the recommended actions to improve its anti-financial crime systems, including developing stronger national anti-money laundering and terrorism financing policies.

South Africa has committed to working with FATF to strengthen the effectiveness of its anti-money laundering and terrorism financing regime. FATF will closely monitor South Africa’s progress in implementing this plan.

The priority now is to ensure that South Africa is removed from the grey list as soon as possible. It is worth noting that South African banks already follow global best practices.

Südafrika wird im Bericht nirgends explizit genannt. Um im Haniblick darauf, dass nur 11 Länder es schaffen als besonders sicher deklariert zu werden, darf man wohl recht beruhigt nach Südafrika reisen. 🙂

Es gibt Länder, in die sollten wir im Jahr 2023 lieber nicht reisen – weil es zu gefährlich ist. An anderen Zielen können sich Urlauber hingegen sehr sicher fühlen. Die „Risk Map“ zeigt, wo Risiken hoch sind.

DAY ZERO LESS THAN TWO WEEKS AWAY

KOUGA has less than two weeks of water left before the taps run dry – with Day Zero predicted for May 31.

“Residents of Kouga are currently using 18Ml of water per day, of which 12Ml will be lost at the end of the month when the dams run dry,” said Kouga Executive Mayor, Horatio Hendricks.

“Thus, leaving us with only 6Ml of water per day from our own resources.

“It is therefore important that all residents reduce their water usage to a maximum of 25l per person per day with immediate effect in a bid to push back Day Zero.”

According to Hendricks, this, however, does not mean that there will be water in the taps. Residents will either have to buy water or rely on water tap-off points.

“The municipality is in the process to install sixty 5 000l water tanks across the region that will serve as water tap-off points when Day Zero becomes a reality,” he said.

“Only a limited amount of water will be allowed per resident.

The different locations of the drop-off points will be communicated to residents over the course of the next week.

Hendricks said the municipality is, furthermore, looking at alternative measures to purify water of boreholes that will provide an extra 6.8Ml of water per day. However, the quality of the water is poor.

Mitigation Measures
“Kouga Municipality has invested more than R200 million in various water projects to reduce water demand and to minimise water losses, as well as to make available additional boreholes – this for the last three years alone,” said Hendricks.

“Some 38 viable boreholes have been connected, while more boreholes will be connected in Humansdorp, Hankey and St Francis Bay.”

He added that six water points were erected in Hankey and two in St Francis Bay, while six rainwater harvesting tanks were installed at municipal building across the region.

Water-flow restrictors were, furthermore, installed at the homes of 200 high-water users and water pressure to households across the region were reduced.

According to Hendricks, the municipality has also embarked on an active Save Water Awareness Campaign since 2017, which was intensified in April 2021.

“Be smart about how you use your high-water usage household appliances,” he said. “Toilet flushing is by far the largest single use of water in a home – use greywater for your toilet. Furthermore, only run your washing machine or dishwasher if you have a full load.

“I urge all residents to reduce their water usage with immediate effect in a bid to push back Day Zero. Every one of us has a role to play in preventing Kouga’s taps from running dry. We must do all we can to save water.”
