My dad signed everything he wrote with that greeting. I taught myself how to write so please be patient with me. Hawaii meant everything to Doc, mostly because of the people he met in the pursuit of his beloved Surfing. No one, in my dads eyes, was as esteemed as Duke. My Dad was always a devoted surfer and waterman way before he was ever a Doctor and he aspired greatly to be able to just exist in the same realm as the men he considered Giants. One day my dad was just frothing at big queens and it was getting bigger and bigger and the Duke paddled out. My dad was so excited to be there and he continued to follow into the deeper and deeper water, hoping to impress his hero. Well he ended up barely making it in. Duke saw him kissing the shore and Doc said he was the most grateful he had ever been to have made it back onto dry land! Perspective is truly a great gift!

last week was an absolute treat. The piers where on fire and I’m sure everyone scored a good wave of two. Here is a image from the first day of the swell by 📷 Luke Patterson he always seems to be in the spot when the right one comes 👌🏼✨🖤 Jordy Smith was ridding a 6’2 88 with less Liters and an inch smaller than his usual board. He is testing out some new materials to see how it handles. Looking pretty promising at this point.
