Zebras are one of the most overlooked animals when it comes to wildlife photography! Sometimes it pays to stop and admire all that you see out there instead of chasing the Big Five!

During our recent stay at Hoanib Valley Camp we were extremely lucky to experience not one but two separate sightings of the Desert adapted lion! Recent surveys put their numbers between 50-60 in an area in the Northwest of Namibia that covers almost a million acres. Due to human-lion conflict and the sheer difficulty of surviving in such arid conditions lion numbers fluctuate with the highest recording of 180 individuals in 2015.

We recently hosted a group of experienced advisors from Brownell Travel in conjunction with Natural Selection and our time spent at Shipwreck Lodge in Namibia along the skeleton Coast was out of this world...literally! The location and topography of Shipwreck Lodge is so unique you do feel like you are the only inhabitants of another planet. We had an incredible time exploring the area on a number of different activities. The architecture and design of the lodge is also so unique in their design to mimic scattered shipwrecks!

was recently on a safari with guests in Zimbabwe and Botswana and they were lucky enough to spot a black footed cat! This little predator spends days in disused Springhare burrows only coming out at night to hunt.

Our next stop on our hosted Botswana and Namibia educational with was the brand new Tawana lodge located in a remote corner of the Moremi game reserve. This luxurious lodge has beautiful large rooms overlooking the Gomoti Channel which is a hive of activity throughout the day with armchair game viewing a highlight! The lodge is very well thought out and boasts a gym, swimming pool and a wonderful wine cellar. Stay tuned for a post on the spectacular wildlife we saw during our two night stay

*Not for sensitive viewers
The magic of safari and what makes people return time after time is you never quite know what is around the next turn!
Whilst heading back to camp one hot afternoon in the Mara in Kenya my guests and I were surprised to find this lioness walking alone in the heat of the day, she had left the pride clearly on a mission so we decided to follow her and see what transpired. We were rewarded 20 minutes later as she took down a sizeable warthog. We were the only vehicle present and managed to watch the drama unfold in blissful isolation.

Happy World Elephant Day! Elephants… an overwhelming favourite with our guests when visiting our shores. There is an emotional intelligence that make these giants of the Savannah fascinating to just sit and watch! One of the great conservation success stories is the story of .e.s.c.u.e so today we would like to highlight the phenomenal work they do not only with Elephant conservation but community empowerment as well! Next time you book a Kenyan Safari it’s well worth including a visit here!
