Funza Lushaka Bursary Programme

About The Funza Lushaka Bursary Programme was created as a means to promoting teaching in public (and most specifically, rural) schools. Once the bursary applicant has qualified with their education qualification, they will be required to take up a teaching position at a public school for the equal duration of the bursary award.
Value: tuition fees, accommodation, food, textbooks and learning materials, as well as a small allowance.
Who can apply? Applicants must meet the following minimum criteria before applying:
South African citizen,
No criminal record,
Has not dropped out of University,
Eligible for an approved degree/ PGCE in 2 of the priority areas
Committed to a career in teaching,
Willing to teach at any school appointed by the PED.
University pass with admission to a bachelor degree,
Accepted into a qualification at an accredited higher education institution.
*Preference will be given to students from rural areas, students who are willing to teach in rural areas and students with proven financial need.
Closing date 08 January 2016 for new applications & 20 November 2015 for re-applications
