Here’s a snap of dinner by the fire on our first night camping with our twin boys. They had just started solids when we took them to . We wanted to keep it simple so we picked up a few pre-made baby meals from . They come in resealable containers so it was easy to pop back what they didn’t finish into our fridge. Mum and dad enjoyed buffalo wings on the braai after the boys went to bed!

We had to improvise without their high chairs, as you can see! It was a bit messy but it worked well enough.

We had stopped sterilising the boys’ bottles when we went on this trip. We just made sure to give them a good wash with hot water, dry them and store them in a clean container. If you wanted to sterilise while camping you could bring a bucket and use Milton tablets.

Hello 👋 We’re Ben & Kate. There are a few new faces around here so we thought we’d take a moment to reintroduce ourselves.

We’ve been overlanding in Southern Africa for more than 10 years. We started in our Hyundai i10 😂 before upgrading to our much loved Suzuki Jimny. In 2020 we bought a Defender one week before the world went into lockdown. We spent Friday evenings drinking our diminishing wine supplies in the Defender until we could travel again.

We had twin boys in 2023. It’s always been a dream for us to travel and explore as a family.

We got so much use out of our carriers on our first camping trip with the boys. Our friends bought us the Omni 360 Baby Carrier All-In-One Cool Air Mesh (phew that’s a mouthful!) from for our baby shower earlier this year.

The carriers are great for being hands free with the boys and for bush walks. The boys also took a couple naps in them during the day.

WHERE DID THEY SLEEP?
