As we all know, Rebounding is an effective ways to enhance the effects and benefits of exercise – by increasing the effect of Gravity.
With every bounce you increase the G-Force (pull from Gravity) on every cell in your body. Almost every exercise for strengthening relies in us pulling away from Gravity (sit-ups, weightlifting etc).
Humans are used to Earths G where our normal jump is just under ½ a meter, and we’d be able to bounce a little higher on Venus as it has slightly less gravity than Earth.
Jupiter would be a bit of a problem where we could only jump 17cm (just over half a ruler).
But Pluto…..each 7m high bounce may take around 5seconds each – and you’d only do 12 bounces a minute (instead of the 120 here on Earth).
Our moon could be fun with over 2 ½ meter jump – but our Sun would be a problem, besides it being a bit too hot for exercise, you wouldn’t be able to jump up at all.

Last week we posted about why we prefer rebounders with High Quality Springs.
One of our rebounders was used and stored outdoors for 6 years in full sun, rain, cold, wind and hail - and then brought in for a service.
Even though the spring cover and yellow mat edging had taken a beating in JoBurg’s weather – our springs didn’t need any replacements. Not one.
They are STILL great and continue to offer a smooth, reactive and AWESOME Bounce. Perfectly fluid and Buoyant.
Which is ONE of the many reasons why we love our Spring Rebounders.
Springs can occasionally go, but of the 28 000+ rebounders we’ve sold over the years – we’ve only replaced a few springs on around 20 units, which is well below 0.1%.
Safe to say that our “Spring Spares” department is very quiet. The main action it gets is a little dusting.

Wobble and FlatSprint
We LOVE this vid from Woodstock Pilates doing their ‘Wobble Plate’. It's also called tremoring, and Dave Hall calls it the ‘Jamba Walk’ (or Jamba ‘Run’ when doing it fast).
We call it the ‘Flat Sprint’ – and it’s GREAT for so many reasons including: super low impact, high cardio and calorie burning (when done fast), great for strengthening leg muscles and an option if you suffer from Reflux disorders, hiatus hernia – or don’t/can’t bounce higher but want a higher cardio exercise.
It can also give you a nice body tingle: do it fast for a minute…then stop….and feel the tingly rush through your body.
You can actually do this anywhere, even standing with feet flat on the floor, or sitting on a chair while keeping your toes in contact with the floor - shake your legs and/or arms for a minute, similar to a shiver if you’re very very cold. It feels great when you’re doing it – and tingles when you stop.
(Important – don’t forget to take nice even breaths while doing it)
If you have any previous knee discomfort, test it first with a very low and slow pace when doing in on the mat - and of course, seek medical advice if you have any known conditions or unusual pain.

The R86 100 raised last year by our affiliated studios and their participants in the 2022 CANSA/ReboundSA Bounce-a-thon - was put to VERY good use and helped fund essential CANSA (Cancer Association of SA) services which include:
Care Centres with screening and early detection programs, Counseling, Education and Online programs, Support Material for Nutrition, Coping, Guidance for Treatments and Pain management, Support Rooms, Help desks, Assistance with Medical Equipment and Cancer Care Homes. Just shows what incredible things an hour of rebounding can do!

This years Bounce-a-thon is in 10 days time, on Sat 4th November – and if you’d like to secure your spot (as places are limited) you’ll find a list of national classes (live-in-studio or online for approx 1 hours class) on the Quicket website https://qkt.io/bounceathon.
Tickets can be bought from Quicket or at the door - and are between R100 to R150 each.
