Cullinan Diamond Mine Surface Tour

Experience a tour of the historic Premier Mine, established in 1902, where the world’s largest diamond, weighing an astonishing 3,106 carats, was discovered in 1905. In September 2009, the mine unearthed another notable gem—a 507-carat diamond. Premier Mine is renowned for producing 255 gem-quality diamonds of over 100 carats each and nearly 25% of the world’s diamonds weighing 400 carats or more. This is also the only location globally where you can purchase the exclusive Cullinan Star Cut diamond—a distinctive 66-facet cut. Each stone is laser-engraved, guaranteeing its authenticity and uniqueness.

On the surface tour, visitors will explore the iconic "Big Hole," observe the mining shaft, and visit the diamond room, where you can view a selection of uncut diamonds and replicas of some of the world's most famous stones. It is recommended to wear comfortable shoes, as there is a moderate amount of walking during the tour.

The Cullinan Diamond is the largest rough gem-quality diamond ever found, at 3,106.75 carats (621.350 g). It was found by Frederick Wells, surface manager of the Premier Diamond Mining Company in Cullinan, Gauteng, South Africa, on 25 January 1905. The stone was named after Sir Thomas Cullinan, the owner of the diamond mine.

There have been various other notable diamonds that have been recovered from Premier Mine. These include:

The Premier Rose: 353 carats (70.6 g) rough

The Niarchos: 426 carats (85.2 g) rough

The De Beers Centenary: 275 carats (55.0 g) rough

Golden Jubilee Diamond: 755 carats (151.0 g) rough

Taylor-Burton Diamond: 69 carats (13.8 g) polished

Additionally, you will have an hour of free time to stroll along the picturesque Oak Avenue, home to charming shops, and enjoy refreshments at the historic Cullinan Hotel.

**Important Information:**
