SAA has warned travellers of a social media scam claiming to offer discounted fares.

In a post on social media platform X, the airline said it had been alerted to a scam targeting individuals on WhatsApp.

Scammers impersonating SAA are offering discounted tickets with payment links in order to steal money from victims who attempt to book the flight.

“Please be aware that these offers are not associated with our airline,” SAA posted. “For safety and security, always verify information through our official channels. If you need assistance or clarification, please contact us directly.”

My love for travel started in 2000 when I had the privilege to fly for our national carrier at the age of 19!!

There was no looking back from there.

My career has since taken me on many adventures and I was blessed to start my travel business in 2009. There were many naysayers who thought I was crazy to start a travel business amidst a global recession and when people are ‘all’ booking online.

Now 10 years later I have realized that the role of the travel professional is probably even more relevant today. People want to deal with someone who has the expertise to advise them adequately and to be assured that their financial investment is safe.
