I have been looking for a while for a more affordable safari to the Lower Zambezi National Park in Zambia (my favorite destination in Africa) - the Lower Zambezi is all luxury, super exclusive and very expensive.
BUT I have found a solution!

This safari is for the adventurous - it is a serviced mobile safari.
Which means that you will be staying in semi permanent tented camps right on the Zambezi River.
Bush walks are a big part of this type of safari - this is by far the best way to experience the true African bush and feel one with nature - and no you will not be walking the whole time, there are other activities such as game drives, boating and canoeing on the Zambezi.
When I say it is serviced - this means that guides, cleaning staff and a chef will be accompanying us on this journey.

A luxury safari can be very expensive starting at USD 500 per person per day, and not everyone can afford it.
Although luxury safaris are still our core business - I had to have another option to help everyone.
The idea behind this budget option is to give everyone a chance to experience a BIG 5 safari in a world-famous National Park.

The two best times to travel and witness the amazing Wildebeest Migration are from July to September for the river crossings, and then my personal favorite - the calving season from February to March.
1000's of wildebeest calves are born every day, and the sheer numbers are astonishing.
Because these calves are easy prey, this is the perfect time to see the big predators as well such as lion, hyena and cheetah.

I want to notify you, our loyal FB followers, first about an important update/change coming in December.
Because of our struggles with Google and other reasons also associated with Google search - I have decided to rebrand the business.
Everything else will stay exactly the same - I am still the owner and I am still running this business as Afrika Jack.
Unfortunately most of our business come from Google searches, and the loss of income since they suspended our account just because we changed our business address can’t be ignored 😢😢

Hi everyone,

Just an update:
We are moving our office from Johannesburg to Nelspruit - very close to the Kruger National Park.
But being proactive, as I always am - I changed the address on my Google Business Profile, AND GOOGLE DECIDED TO SUSPEND MY PROFILE!!!😡😡
To say I am angry, is an understatement, as it took me months to be verified on Google.
So in case any of you are looking for the business on Google, you will not find it until they reinstated it “”someday”.

Budget is always a big consideration when planning to go on an African safari - it is not cheap, and rightly so - you absolutely get what you pay for.
But there are many ways to save money on safari, and I always look at these options when designing a safari for a client.
Here is some insider knowledge that I want to share with you 👉
💥Long stay specials - most camps have specials where if you stay for 4 nights/you only pay for 3; stay 7/pay for 5; etc. - this can add up to a saving of between $500 - $3000 per person
💥Honeymoon and Family specials - almost all camps have discounts for honeymooners where 1 spouse only pays 50%; and children under 12 pay 50% - this can add up to a saving of $2000 - $5000 per person
💥Last minute bookings - with some camps you can save up to 30% if you book within 30 days from arrival - depending on availability of course
More ways of saving👉
✅Travel dates - travel in the low season or just before peak season
✅Visit fewer locations, and stay longer in the same location - the flights and transfers between camps and destinations can get pricey
✅Limit your ''safari nights'' - only stay for 3 or 4 nights on safari and visit other destinations as part of your trip for instance the metros or the beach - you can combine both and save big.

All Bucket List Tours, except Botswana which is booked, will be suspended until further notice.
Due to many reasons, some personal, but mostly because 99% of enquiries coming in are for my 10% discount special and not for the guided tours - all tours will be suspended with immediate effect.

This past week I had many people ask me about Family Safaris, and what age children need to be, what activities there are for them, etc.... I thought I would do a post explaining a bit more.
Firstly, kids are most welcome on safaris, and we encourage families to bring their kids with... it is an amazing learning experience for them, and something they will not get anywhere else.
Mostly all camps have safari and bush activities for kids, and the guides and staff take time to teach them new experiences.
Also, for younger children most camps only charge 50% of adult rate!!
Kids from as young as 3 - 4 years old will most certainly enjoy the experience!

In all the safari camps we work with, all meals are prepared by professional and highly trained chefs.
Dinners are always 3 course meals, and the locations where you will be dining are unbeatable.
Breakfast and lunch can also be enjoyed right in the bush while watching the wildlife pass by.

Lion sightings are on the top of the list for most safari goers, I mean what is a visit to Africa without seeing lions in the wild right...
By far one of the best places to see plenty of lions is Ruaha National Park in southern Tanzania.
Ruaha boasts with almost 10% of the world's lion population... wow that is a lot of lions.
There are 3 distinct prides... the Glade pride, the Nja pride, and the Baobab pride.
Some of the prides total more than 30 lions, which is a lot of mouths to feed.
They need to hunt big game in order to feed everyone...
The relationship between lion and buffalo, their favorite prey, dictates the ebbs and flows in Ruaha... and many times the prides stray into each other's territories when following the big buffalo herds... then another kind of drama unfolds.
