As we, and so many friends around the globe, sit in lockdown, quarantine & isolation, we are deeply concerned for the travel industry and all those who rely on visitors to our country. The many people who generate an income and the informal traders who rely on the sales of their goods to feed their families.
Our president has stepped up to the leadership-plate and we are grateful to see our nation getting behind the common goal of slowing down the rate of infections.
As we sit in "iso", I can feel the itch starting to tingle in my feet, and I can imagine it building-up in thousands of itchy feet around the world. People will explore again and journeys of discovery will bring us all closer together soon. For now we do what we can by staying home and letting nature take a break from all of us.
When we worked in South Luangwa, Zambia, Susie and I were amazed at how wild and untouched it felt. This was partly due to the fact that the majority of the park becomes inaccessible in the rainy season and so human impact is kept low for many months of the year. All our parks and reserves are getting a break like this now, yet the animals are continuing undisturbed, as they have for millions of years!
One thing is for certain. Those who travel to Southern Africa after this, will get a welcome like never before. Smiles will all be genuine and "thanks" 100% sincere! Sending our best to you all and hoping to see you all soon...
Much Love
Rich & Susie
