Our Story
FSA was founded by Lodie de Jager in 1996 after arranging exchange visits for learners between South Africa and Germany since 1984. The philosophy of FSA has always been that understanding and tolerance are only possible when we realize that different does not mean wrong. Others are allowed to think and reason differently to what we do. It is only through communication that understanding can be promoted between different groups and different worlds. Our policy has always been that it must be in the range of affordibility for as many as possible participants from across the spectrum.
From 1996 up to now more than 5 000 South African learners made it successfully through the screening process and represented South Afrca and the FSA in Germany. During this same period approximately the same number of German exchange students visited South Africa as part of our programme. In 2016 FSA celebrates it's 20th year of existence with the roots of the FSA stretching back as far as 1984 already.
We look forward to making this memorable youth exchange experience possible for many years to come!
