For those of our clients who have travelled to Mala Mala and are familiar with the lion dynamics, the Kambula pride has been split for long enough now for the two groups to be considered as two separate prides:

• The larger portion, consisting of 5 females (including one of the original lionesses) and 13 cubs, will keep their current name.
• The other portion, consisting of 3 of the original lionesses and 3 cubs, will adopt the pride’s alias: Ntsevu pride.

Terrible news out of Tanzania - a 3rd Amboseli elephant bull Tusker was hunted and killed on the 1st of March 2024 in Enduimet.

This needs to be stopped and the agreement on no cross border hunting needs to be reestablished immediately between Tanzania and Kenya. It’s unknown at this time on who the Tusker might be. Please spread this news wide and far.

An international team of scientists has achieved an unprecedented milestone in rhinoceros reproduction by orchestrating the world’s first pregnancy through embryo transfer at Conservancy in Kenya.

The team confirmed a 70-day pregnancy with a 6.4 cm male embryo from a southern white rhino.

The success of the southern white rhino embryo transfer and pregnancy serves as an emphatic proof of concept, propelling the team toward the pivotal next step-the transfer of northern white rhino embryos into a surrogate mother.

This unparalleled achievement cements its status as a cornerstone in the unwavering mission to rescue the northern white rhino from the precipice of extinction.

Chipazua - a legendary leopardess from the Luangwa Valley, Zambia.
Having witnessed her drop onto this young Puku from a Sausage Tree after several hours of waiting, our due reward was to see her able to feed her grown cubs with this well earned kill.

“While we eagerly await the first signs of the Schotia female’s new cub, who with any luck we should see signs of soon, we check in with the Kangela male, her most recently independent offspring, to see how he is faring.

This particular morning’s drive found him letting his guard down as the alarm calls from the troop of vervet monkeys perched in the tree tops nearby echoed through the grasslands, giving away his presence.

The sounds of the bush are just as fascinating as the sights and smells. And alarm calls are one of the most useful signals for a Field Guide while out on a game drive that a predator is nearby.”

A remarkable sighting at Chitake Springs with a herd of buffalo numbering approximately 300, together with around 30 lions spread throughout the area.
The lions ended up killing 7 younger buffalo in what is a truly magnificent sighting!

An amazing sighting from Londolozi of 2 Spotted Hyenas who had stolen a male Leopard’s Impala kill. He loitered in the hope of getting some of his hard won kill back but with the arrival of a pack of Wild Dogs he beat a hasty retreat.

!! WARNING - not for sensitive viewers !!
The drama that unfolded at Phinda Private Game Reserve where an aggressive Waterbuck bull had chased a young male waterbuck into the water. This in turn gave an opportunistic Crocodile the opportunity to grab the younger Waterbuck.
We remained until the unfortunate youngster left the water, but with the skin from its back torn off by the Crocodile and the predators of the area we didn’t have high hopes for him once darkness fell.
There was no sign of him the following morning so we suspect he fell victim to other opportunists in the area.

Live and happening at the moment where a large Waterbuck bull has chased a younger waterbuck bull into the water where a crocodile has grabbed the young waterbuck and trying to get it to deeper water.

More video to come as we wait to see how this drama unfolds as the waterbuck bull has moved off and the youngster, with his skin torn off his back, waits at the edge of the water with the crocodile circling and waiting…
