Through UNDPās Technical Training for Women in Electrical and Renewable Energy, 103 women from across 7 Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) colleges in Limpopo Province have gained vital skills in solar PV technology. This initiative, in collaboration with GIZ South Africa, Lesotho & eSwatini, the Energy and Water Sector Education and Training Authority (EWSETA), and the University of Johannesburg, equips women to lead South Africaās #JustEnergyTransition while promoting gender equality and entrepreneurship.
And weāre just getting started! This year we are expanding to Mpumalanga, North West, and Northern Cape, with new collaborations with the local private sector to provide internships for graduates, facilitating work-integrated learning and potentially leading to long-term employment.
