Sorry, but have Toyota SA / TOYOTA completely lost the plot? First a 2.8 in the 70 series, now Hilux and Fortuner only in 2.0 petrol? How about putting the "potent" 2.0 petrol in the Hiace instead? Maybe then there would be less Hilux/Fortuner thefts...

Toyota's next generation Fortuner and Hilux might not receive the venerable 2.8-litre diesel, in its place a potent 2.0-litre turbo petrol instead.

The gemsbok, a striking antelope native to the Kalahari Desert, is renowned for its impressive long, straight horns and striking coat of gray / beige and white. These animals are well adapted to the harsh desert environment, capable of surviving without water for long periods by deriving moisture from their food (like the Nama melon). Social creatures, gemsboks often travel in herds, grazing on sparse vegetation while maintaining a watchful eye for predators. Kalahari lions can be distinguished from others in the rest of Africa in having lighter fur overall, longer legs, and larger paws – traits that are also found in other mammals adapted to desert living. Male lions have sleek manes that can range from golden to inky black in colour, helping them camouflage better. Females are quite lean and muscular, a trait that enhances the endurance that they need to hunt in the desert.

What do you enjoy most; solo overlanding or with friends?

I enjoy the solitude of traveling by myself to remote places but usually not more than two weeks, then I want some company. I enjoy solo travel even more when it’s together with my partner in crime, Venessa.
