Great sigtings on trail cameras the past month on our consesions. Bushpigs, civits, honey badger, brown hyena, and leopard. Looks like one of the kudu bulls might pull the tape to 60”.

What a hunt??!! More magnificent trophies taken. South Africa got a big variaty of game and what makes the hunting trip more amazing, is the opportunity to experience the game running in the wild from the chopper. What a wonderful experience.
After a busy hunting day, there is nothing better than a nice cold beer and a barbeque around the camp fire and boulding new friendships with great people. Then the best way to end the day, is by going on a night hunt until early morning. Hunting is life!!!

Limpopo Hunting safaris finally welcome's Jeff and Carrie to South Africa for an unforgettable hunt with us. This is a first time hunting trip for them and they know they are in South Africa just by passing the road signs on the road. Only in South Africa where you find these signs.
Jeff started off great on his first day. 2 Beautiful trophies down. A magnificent Bluewildebeest and a white blesbuck. Congratulations Jeff, can't wait to see what's next.

What an awesome hunt with Joel and Jimmy. Definitely one for the books!
2 x big warthogs, serval, civet, genet, caracal, porcupines, 2 x honey badgers. Long hours but the best successful hunt in a long time in only ONE day and night. Hard work paid off. It is just getting better and better here at Limpopo Hunting Safaris with owner Hein Lottering and the double trouble team, Joel and Jimmy.

Some more busy activities at the blinds. Ended the night with great company, great food, great wine and some jackal Hunting.

What a great way to end the day. Congratulations Ashley on your warthog!!!

Trailcameras and blind activities are looking good and it's only the beginning of the hunting season.

Just some facts about the warthog.

Warthogs have a typical pig-like appearance and come from the same family as domestic pigs, wild boars and babirusa.

They have large, fairly flat faces containing wart like structures just above the snout, which is where their name is derived from. They have two sets of warts and these are a lot bigger and more pronounced in males.
Their warts are used as a cushion.
When warthogs fight, their ‘warts’ are used to help cushion the blows from their adversary. Also the larger warts help protect their eyes in combat.

Warthogs also have tusks which develop from their canine teeth and protrude above the upper lip. At times warthogs can appear quite ferocious. They use this tactic well, however they are mainly grazers and primarily eat only grasses and roots.

In places where there are more defined seasons, warthogs will breed and give birth at the beginning of the rains. Where the seasons are more interchangeable, there is no strict time for females to give birth. The average litter size is 2-3 piglets, with adults being able to reproduce at approximately 1.5 years old.

Finally after almost 4 years of planning this trip to Limpopo Hunting Safaris, we can finally give Ashley Egan and Justine Jones from Texas a very warm welcome. May you have an unforgettable hunt and stay with us. We are so exited to make your hunting dreams come true. Can't wait to see what the hunt has in store for you this week. Great company and magnificent trophies.

After a long flight and few hours drive to the lodge, a light lunch with cold beer, we end the day where Ashley did a few target practicing shots with her bow and a sunset game drive on the ranch. Now only a good night's rest and then they will be ready to start this long awaiting hunt.
