The 24th staging of the IIBC World Under 25 Championships is underway after a traditional Scottish welcome at the Opening Ceremony.

The players were marched around the green following the Scottish bagpiper before being presented with their badges of recognition as competitors in this years event.

The difficulties in travel meant President Alison Merrien MBE, the rest of the party from Guernsey and defending champion Harry Goodwin did not arrive until after the Opening Ceremony was complete. However all other competitors were present despite various difficulties faced

Provost Margaret Cooper from South Lanarkshire welcomed the competitors to Scotland; President Michael Ormiston of East Kilbride handed the facilities of East Kilbride to IIBC Vice President Gordon Woods and European Director Sue Beatt spoke on behalf of World Bowls.

Play starts at 9.30am on Monday morning with Mixed Pairs action -
