Can you guess what I am?
When I'm born, I make kitten-like sounds. Even though I'm blind for the first few days, my sense of smell is so strong that I will know when my mother is around.

𝗧𝗵𝗲 𝗟𝗲𝗴𝗲𝗻𝗱 𝗼𝗳 𝘁𝗵𝗲 "𝗧𝗿𝗲𝗲 𝗼𝗳 𝗟𝗶𝗳𝗲"
Along the Limpopo River, locals believe that young boys washed in water that has been used to soak baobab bark will grow into a big, strong man. Mothers wash their baby boys’ toys in water used to soak the bark of a baobab to ensure that their sons will grow big and strong.

It is also believed that women who live in areas where many baobabs grow will have more children than women living in other areas. There is a valid scientific explanation to this theory. Baobab leaves are eaten and high in vitamin C. The leaf thereby makes up for nutritional deficiencies in the women’s diets, resulting in them being more fertile.

Join us on safari to hear other legends and interesting facts about Baobab Trees, and more. You will also get to have sundowners by a Baobab Tree with one of the best views ever! Send an enquiry to [email protected] to find out more.

Did you know that there are five different species of rhino in the world? Three of the five are critically endangered. Here is a quick fact about each one:

• White Rhino - Also known as the Square-lipped rhino, due to the fact that they eat grass is the largest species of rhino in Africa.

• Black Rhino - This rhino is also known as the Hook-lipped-rhino and is two thirds smaller than the White rhino. They use their sharp lips to trim the bark of trees as food.

• Sumatran Rhino - This rhino is the oldest living mammal on earth. Their closest relative is the extinct Woolly Rhino, and they are the only rhino species that is still covered in hair.

• Greater One-Horned Rhino - Also known as the Indian rhino, this is Asia's largest species of rhino. They are semi-aquatic and often take up residence in swamps, forests and riversides

• Javan Rhino - This rhino is possibly the rarest living large mammal on earth. There is only a population of 72 and they survive in Ujong Kulon National Park.

Join Africa's travel industry in cumulatively cycling 30 000 KM, the equivalent of circumnavigating Africa. Across the world, every one of us is experiencing the impact of COVID-19.

In Africa, the halting of tourism has had a devastating economic impact which is threatening the livelihoods of millions of people as well as the future of the continent’s iconic wildlife. Across Africa, wildlife rangers are the first line of defense against illegal poaching and without them, many species such ad elephant, rhino, lion, giraffe and pangolin would be at even greater risk of extinction.

We’re inviting all African safari guests, fellow wildlife enthusiasts, conservation champions and cycling fanatics to join in and support the rangers who are at the front line of conservation. Together we can make a real difference.

Many dung beetles, known as rollers, roll dung into round balls, which are used as a food source or brooding chambers. Other dung beetles, known as tunnelers, bury the dung wherever they find it. A third group, the dwellers, neither roll nor burrow: they simply live in manure. They are often attracted by the dung burrowing owls collect. The wilderness does not require any intervention to thrive. However, the threats of human pressure from land conversion, deforestation, and over-use are real. Monitoring progress in Enonkishu Conservancy does require resources. To manage holistically, livestock, wildlife and vegetation are on scrutinized to ensure maximum output from ecosystem resources.

Please consider supporting our efforts at https://www.globalgiving.org/projects/enonkishu-emergency-appeal

COVID-19 has drastically affected the outlook for conservation in Kenya by closing its border to tourism. At Enonkishu, in northern Mara, tourism accounts for the majority of operating costs, resulting in a shortfall of USD 150,000 in 2020 for essential operations. This crisis has come when the wild...

'The biggest lesson from Africa was that the joy of life comes mostly from relationships and friendships, not from material things. I saw time and again how much fun Africans had with their families and friends and on the sports fields; they laughed all the time.' - Andrew Shue

“Birds will give you a window, if you allow them. They will show you secrets from another world– fresh vision that, though it is avian, can accompany you home and alter your life. They will do this for you even if you don't know their names– though such knowing is a thoughtful gesture. They will do this for you if you watch them.”
