What does it mean to be a mentee in travel with the IWTTF?

Last year I was accepted as a mentee by The International Women in Travel and Tourism Forum. The focus ofWomen in Travel CIC is to develop a more equitable, sustainable and successful tourism industry. Working with a mentor has helped me to hone my travel business, the type of tours I offer, how I research the activities and destinations and the types of insurances needed and so much more!

What a surprise when they told me recently that I had WON the category for "Female Mentee of the Year - Entrepreneur"

At a ceremony held in London recently the judges said about me "Mandy has demonstrated great resilience, never giving up despite initial setbacks with previous mentors which she used as a learning opportunity. She has taken on board all the feedback and has used her mentoring to improve her business strategy, increase her network and has had some really positive results. Changing careers later in your professional life takes bravery and commitment which she has demonstrated throughout and her early successes will stand her in good stead for the future."

I had the most incredible time attending the Adele Searll 100 Club function at the Norval Foundation in Cape Town this week. 💃✨ The highlight of the morning was listening to the brilliant Keith Kirsten, South Africa's beloved horticulturist 🌺🌷

I was thrilled to hear that the South African exhibit at the Chelsea Flower Show won yet another gold medal! 🥇🎉 Keith shared the fascinating journey of turning a concept into a breathtaking creation, showcasing the most stunning slides of the exquisite flowers used in the exhibit. 🌼🌺

"Celebrities were flocking to the South African stand 😱👑, including the fabulous Joanna Lumley and even King Charles II himself!" 👑✨ It was truly a star-studded affair.

Ina Paarman, who was also present at the Chelsea Flower Show this year, ended the talk by saying, "It brought tears to my eyes, and South Africans could hold their heads high, which we do not do enough of." 🇿🇦💪

I couldn't be prouder of our country's talent and achievements! Let's celebrate our incredible horticultural heritage and the beauty that blooms right here in South Africa. 🌻🌿

We've just come back from our Walking Tour In Tuscany - it was unforgettable. Here's a quick question for you:

In the 1600s the bubonic plague hit Florence hard, killing 12 per cent of the city's population. These little windows were a safe way for shopkeepers to sell wine and food with minimal contact, and thus they came to be known as buchette di vino - wine windows. At the time, wine was believed to have medicinal qualities. With Florence being such a well-preserved city, a lot of these windows still remain and was on our to do list.

Day 9 - We Learn To Cook Moroccan Dishes! 🔥🥘

Whilst in Marrakesh we spent some time with a chef and we learnt how to make some classic Moroccan dishes!
