The City of Cape Town is developing a new Mobile Business Policy and consequently Fire Truck Coffee stands to lose its license to trade in Newlands Forest. We are devastated.

The proposal is for hundreds of coffee truck operators to be able to apply for one of the two positions available in the forest and for the winner to be chosen out of a hat for a three, six or twelve month stint. We believe that a short stint at a specific site does not encourage an operator to trade ethically and sustainably. Pricing, product quality and looking after your environment may be secondary considerations for a trader looking to maximize profit for a short spell.

Investing in quality equipment and a reliable vehicle is also not possible when a short trading period is envisaged. This is in addition to uplifting staff, providing long-term stable employment and looking after you – our precious customers.
