Oudtshoorn Trips

Take a whole day out, from 08:00 to 18:00 and start your journey on a spectacular scenic drive through the Garden Route to Oudtshoorn in the Little Karoo.

Oudtshoorn lies inland from the Western Cape’s famous Garden Route. Whilst driving there, you will experience breathtaking mountain passes, magnificent red rock formations and the sandy, wide open spaces of the Little Karoo.

Oudtshoorn was once the ostrich feather capital of the world and also the only place on earth where these precious feathers are regularly auctioned.

Our daily activities start at the Cango Caves.

The Cango Caves offer a fascinating pilgrimage through time… The caverns inside began forming 20 million years ago when acid ground water chemically eroded the 100 million year old limestone rock.

Walk around one of the world’s greatest natural wonders sculptured by nature through the ages.

Join the guided tour of a series of dripstone caverns, chambers, halls and passages while taking in the amazing view of some gigantic stalagmite formations.

Next stop… Highgate and Safari Ostrich Farm.

We visit the hatchery where you will see the miracle of ostrich chicks hatching.

We will show you the exquisite and sought-after feather-boom ostrich feathers and you will get a chance to learn more about this amazing animal, its skin and the process of making ostrich leather goods.

If you weigh less than 80kg, why not be adventurous and sit on an ostrich ?

Did you know that you can stand on an ostrich egg and it will not break ? Come and try !

Enjoy a thrilling ostrich race with the local jockeys to wrap up the tour.

By know you should be starving, so we will relax for lunch at the famous and well-known Jemima’s Restaurant.

After lunch, let’s go to the Cango Wild Life & Crocodile Park for a wild experience of a different kind.

Here you will walk around the breeding facility for endangered animal species… touch a live cheetah… get up close and personal with a tiger cub… or wrap yourself in a python… to name but a few things.

Knysna Tours

Choose whether you want to experience Knysna half/full day.

Knysna is one of the Garden Route’s best known travel destinations and offer a choice of leisurely relaxation, high energy adventurous and sporting activities, to shopping or haute cuisine, Knysna oysters or downing the oldest South African beer – Mitchell’s – which is locally brewed.

Let’s go to the Knysna Heads for a jaw-dropping view of the lagoon, mountain and open ocean.

If you feel energetic, hire a kayak and explore the calm waters of the lagoon by yourself.

We take you to one of the local national heritage sites, Featherbed, a private nature reserve protecting the local fauna and flora. Here you will be exhilarated on a 4 x 4 trailer ride as well as guided walk on the reserve. When you get hungry, we will have a scrumptious buffet lunch in the Milkwood Tree Forest.

Walk around at your own leisure at the Knysna Waterfront and browse the many shops, boutiques and souvenir shops for something special to take home with you after which we take the scenic drive back to your accommodation.

As an Option 2, we take an incredibly stunning scenic drive to Belvidere. We continue southward and then eastward for a pleasant drive with splendid views along the ridge of the Knysna Peninsula known as Breuton.

From Breuton we go to the famous Knysna Heads as mentioned earlier and then off to the Knysna Brewery – South Africa’s original brewery – for a taste of some local drinks.

Enjoy the same leisure time as explained earlier and then we take yet another scenic drive back to your accommodation.

Plettenberg Tours

Plettenberg Bay, our hometown, is the jewel of the Garden Route ! It is a tranquil, charming, hospitable and rather special town surrounded by the Outeniqua Mountains and Tsitsikamma Forest.

When we say unspoilt beaches for miles, we mean it. Plettenberg Bay satisfies any traveller’s interest, whether it is exploring, watching or simply lazing. All around is a natural bird and nature paradise.

We start the day going to a few breathtaking view points while explaining the history and where the town got its name from. Explore with us:

Robberg Peninsula – the mountain of seals just into the sea, enclosing the southern end of the bay.

Keurbooms – a 30 minute walk from the end of the road to Keurboom Strand, ending at the Matjies River cave with a huge midden in front.

We go for lunch at Mungo and thereafter explore the local craft shops, galleries, studios, heritage, lifestyle and local culture.

Relax in the afternoon on one of our beautiful, unspoilt Blue Flag beaches before returning to your accommodation.

As an alternative for the animal lovers out there, we visit the Tenikwa Wildlife Awareness Centrefor a truly amazing and unique wildcat experience !

At Tenikwa, you will meet southern Africa’s lesser indigenous wild cats branded:

“The-Furry-Five-Captive-Bred-Black-Footed-Cats.”

Also get introduced to African Wild Cats, Caracal, Serval and Cheetah all living in a semi-natural environment.

Walk with a cheetah through the indigenous Tsitsikamma forest with its floral fynbos. This is an experience that will stay with you forever.

Our next stop is Monkey Land – the world’s first free roaming multi-species primate sanctuary.

And then we are off to Birds of Eden – the largest single dome free-flight aviary in the world.

We pop in for lunch at Bramon Winery and then animal lovers, we go to Jukani.

Jukani is the home of rescued apex predators which include all of the “Big Cats” such as Lion, Tiger, Jaguar, Leopard, Cheetah, Cougar, Caracal, African Wild Dog to name but a few.

Come and see the rare white lions, tigers and black leopards roaming around the large natural enclosures on 17 hectares of forest and grass lands. Then we head back to your accommodation.

You are welcome to tailor-make your own tour to include the above mentioned and/or to add The Big Five Game Safari, The Wolf Sanctuary and Lawnwood Snake Sanctuary.

Tsitsikamma tours

Tsitsikamma is a water lover's paradise with sea, rivers and water cascading down towards the warm waters of the Indian Ocean where sun worshippers lap up the warm rays throughout the year. Your Tsitsikammaadventure starts at the Canopy Tour located at Storms River. After being elevated into the tree tops, spend a couple of minutes relaxing, taking in the incredible surroundings, then listening to your experienced guide enthusiastically explaining the ecology of the forest, pointing out different trees and magnificent giant ferns below. Imagine !! The Tsitsikamma Forest... 30m from the ground !! A new world unfolds you as you gently slide on 10 different platforms high up in giant trees... A light meal and refreshments are included for your convenience. Our next visit is to The Big Tree. It is a yellowwood giant just 10 minutes walk from the main road deep into the spectacular and beautiful indigenous forest. The tree is approximately 800 years old, stands an awesome 36.6 meters high and has a circumference of almost 9 meters. Take a leisure walk through tunnels in the rank vegetation surrounded by trees garlanded with moss, lichens and creepers. At your feet will be ferns and shrubs of all kinds. This is a real elementary lesson in forestry. Our Tsitsikammaadventure continues to our next adventure at the Tsitsikamma National Park. When we get there, with the roar of the ocean in your ears, we walk to the famous suspension bridge over the Storms River mouth. This is a Must-Do-Experience. Trees along the way are all marked for easy identification making this walk educational as well as fun. Choose to take a boat trip down the Storms River and experience this incredible gorge. We have lunch at the Tsitsikamma Nature Reserve. Now we are off to Bloukrans - the world's highest commercial bungy jump - at a whooping 216 meters high! This is a proud record for South Africa and the Tsitsikamma and now you too, can face your greatest fear. We leave the Tsitsikamma for a beautiful scenic drive through Groot River pass to Nature's Valley. A combination of sea, lagoon, mountains and luxuriant vegetation give Nature's Valley a charm of it's own. It seems appropriate that the whole resort, even the local holiday homes, should be nestled in a small nature reserve.
