In our quest to place Africa firmly in the center of the technological map we came across a domain for sale, https://airport.co.za
The domain was undeveloped and had a for sale sign on its one page. We immediately offered the seller their asking price and he accepted.
Then we were faced with the question that most impulse buyers always face after buying something quickly, “What on earth do we do next?”
We took a flight to Johannesburg and it came to us. We Love, the whole airport experience. We love the airport lounge, the anticipation to getting on the plane, the sense of purpose we feel when we arrive at any airport.
True, the whole “search you thoroughly” is not pleasant, but we think a hijacked plane is much more unpleasant. If we could book a flight every month @ Mashcor we would do it and we believe that many people would also do it.
But how do we solve the dilemma of making the whole travel experience feel like an adventure with minimal risk and maximum enjoyment.
We had an epiphany when one day in the South African Airport Lounge we came across the newspaper reader and their coffee
We kept seeing everybody reading some sort of newspaper.
Young and old alike. Enjoying a good read.
We could combine the one thing that people love doing, reading about the world around them and having an affordable solution to traveling the world for business or on vacation.
So we looked and looked for a solution to the problem. We are not journalists and we are not writers. @ Mashcor we are computer geeks and we don’t know the first thing about telling a captivating story.
But we know technology.
After searching and developing a little we found that we could buy articles from NewsApi.org and republish the articles from the best newspapers around the world using some nifty code and deep learning technology change the article a little bit.
After finding an ideal theme to host the whole website we got to develop the idea.
And we were so suprised with the result we decided to find the best online travel booking partner who was ethical and completely able to deliver for our future readers and audience.
Travelpayouts.com seemed to be God sent. We loved their entire platform and they had been doing amazing things in the travel industry for years.
We are now happy to launch our little side project. Our beautiful little news and travel blog.
