This big boy was looking for a cool place to rest after finishing off last night’s meal at Duke’s waterhole in Kruger National Park yesterday. Always delightful when they are close by.
An unbelievably lucky sighting of an adult Crowned Eagle feeding on a young bushbuck at Mjejane Game Reserve yesterday afternoon. Crowned Eagles prefer forest habitats so seeing them in Greater Kruger is a real treat 👌🏼
Our lions at Mjejane Game Reserve took down a warthog in the early hours of the morning and were dining when we arrived. Not much meat for 9 hungry carnivores so the two mothers took the lion’s share and the youngsters had to make due with the leftovers. Caring does not always mean sharing… 🦁🦁🦁
Thought we had found a sea monster but it was just two hippos in stealth mode wearing ghillie suits 🤣🦛🦛🤣
Somewhere in Africa, a mother White Rhino and her calf live peacefully… 🦏🩶🤍🦏
An interesting view from below of a magnificent elephant bull feeding at Mjejane Game Reserve.

Our 7 lion cubs at Mjejane Game Reserve are now 1 year old 🦁🦁🦁
They helped their two mothers bring down a buffalo in the early hours of Friday and have been spoiling us with great viewing opportunities ever since.
We have been able to watch them feed on the carcass, drink water at a nearby pan, tackle one another, chase vultures around and laze around on the road. Wonderful to watch them develop into proper lions.

What a sighting taken from Buffalo Bend River Lodge at Mjejane Game Reserve 🤩🥳
A pack of African Wild Dogs had taken over a leopard’s kill and were busy feeding on the dead impala. A hyena was lurking around hoping for some scraps. The leopard ambushed the dogs and came charging in to try and re-claim his breakfast. He was unsuccessful and watched the dogs finish his kill from the safety of a tree.

Our resident herd of buffalo getting mobile during the Golden Hour first thing in the morning. A nice and big herd with many small calves 🐃🩶🐃
The talking zebra 😉🦓🩶

Some very upset vervet monkeys alerted us to the whereabouts of our lions yesterday morning. The monkeys make a chattering sound and this alarm call is recognised by all the other animals in the bush. Our two lionesses and their 7 subadult cubs were lazing around after a small snack but the monkeys were not happy with their presence at all 🙈🙉🙊 Photo of the lions in the comments…
This male Collared Sunbird was highly upset with his opponent mirrored in the cattle rails of this bakkie at Lower Sabie in Kruger National Park yesterday. He kept challenging the “other male” and was getting quite irate that he wouldn’t come out and fight 🐦🐦
We had the most amazing sighting of our lions and subadult cubs yesterday at Mjejane Game Reserve. What started off as a lazy afternoon with the lions sleeping in the semi shade ended in action!
The youngsters were just starting to stretch and yawn and move around a little bit when a troop of banded mongoose made the fatal mistake of choosing the wrong path. As soon as they were spotted, the cubs immediately went into stalking mode. Within seconds, chaos erupted with lion cubs running around the vehicle trying to catch the mongoose. The mongoose scattered in all directions. Most of them survived the ordeal but the cubs managed to catch at least two of them and proudly moved into the bushes with their kill. Their mothers watched on as their offspring presented their hunting skill, which is still somewhat chaotic at this stage 🫣😹

We started early to see if we can get lucky 🌅 and were rewarded with our pride of lions with full bellies 😻

The audio was incredible when these two herds of elephants greeted one another. The one our resident herd and the other had just crossed from Kruger. After the formalities, all the youngsters began playing with one another. Special moments 🐘🤍🐘
