Snouted Cobra!!!

This is a juvenile Snouted cobra (Naja annulifera),one of South-Africa's venomous snakes.

Snouted Cobra's have a potent Neurotoxic venom, which causes PW (Progressive weakness) due to the attack on the Neuro Receptors preventing the signals that the brain sends to the body like...
Speaking
Blinking
Breathing
And so forth.

The venom paralyzes the diaphragm leading to suffocation and death if kept untreated with Polyvalent anti-venom.

The Snouted Cobra is the second largest cobra found in Africa, after the Forest cobra. It has front fixed fangs to deliver its powerful venom.

They have a wide range where you could find them.If confronted by one and/or any other snake please check for your local snake catcher and keep an eye on the snake from a safe distance untill he or she arrives to safely relocate it.

Mozambique spitting cobra!

Very common Highly Venomous snake found in and around house's.

This snakes venom is mostly cytotoxic which causes PPS ( Painful Progressive Swelling) with blistering of the skin around the bite site,it also has slight neurotoxic symptoms which causes PW (Progressive Weakness) causing drowsiness and in worst case difficulties in breathing.

This snakes would not bite if not provoked,it's defenses are spitting accurately at an attackers eyes which causes instant pain and burning effects.People mostly get bitten when trying to hurt or kill the snake. They also find shelter in people's beds where alot of bites also take place (when a person will toss and turn and by accident touch or squish the snake, resulting in a bite).

Stay clear if seen and phone a qualified Snake Remover to capture and relocate the Snake safely.

One of the Large one's.

The Southern African Rock Python (Python natalensis) is one of the biggest snakes in the world and most definitely the biggest in South Africa, reaching 5m+ in length.

This snake is Non-venomous but has a very nasty bite that could need stitches. They have around 80+ rear facing, razor sharp teeth, which acts like a knife blade slicing through the skin.

Very beautiful snake and is classified as an endangered species because of habitat destruction and it being killed for the skin.

If encountered please let it be and if it is a threat to wildlife, please phone a qualified snake remover to catch and relocate it safely.
