After every elephant hunt, the hard work begins. Local communities come together to process the meat, ensuring nothing goes to waste. These hunts not only provide food but also support livelihoods and traditions deeply rooted in Africa’s wild spaces.
This is the real impact of ethical hunting—feeding families, uplifting communities, and fostering a connection between people and the land.

The Chobe River marks the border between Namibia and Botswana, but this year, the difference between the two sides is stark. Drought has left Botswana’s side overgrazed and dry, forcing wildlife to cross into Namibia in search of food.
But even here, the drought’s impact is severe. This is the first year we’ve had to step in and save elephants trapped in drying muddy pools. To date, we’ve rescued 7 elephants—an effort born out of necessity, not choice.
To protect both wildlife and communities, the Namibian government has extended the hunting season. Proceeds from these hunts are reinvested directly into local communities, helping them survive the immense pressure of the drought.
This is what sustainable conservation looks like—balancing the needs of wildlife, people, and the land.

Wrapping up an incredible year and looking forward to what’s next. We’re excited to share that our camp in Namibia is expanding with a new addition—our very own spa, where guests can unwind in the heart of the African wilderness. This first look shows the start of construction, and we can’t wait to share progress along the way. Stay tuned as we prepare to make next season even more memorable for our guests! #ThormahlenCochran #FreeRangeHunting #AfricanSafari
A young elephant bull found himself stuck deep in the mud in the Caprivi, and neither he nor the locals could get him out. The community brought him grass, but it wasn’t enough. Our hunters were called in, and after working together, we managed to pull him to safety. Exhausted but safe, the elephant rested before getting up and heading off on his way. It was a great day in the Caprivi, showing how teamwork can make all the difference in the wild! 🐘

Restoring Bushmanland’s Water Pan – A Community Effort
In Bushmanland, we’re bringing an old water pan back to life – not with machines, but with the hard work of local hands. This approach takes longer, but it provides income and support to local families who rely on this work. It’s more than just conservation – it’s about giving back to the community while ensuring the wildlife has the water it needs. Real conservation. Real impact. #TrueConservation #Bushmanland #WaterForWildlife #ThormahlenCochran #FreeRangeHunting #CommunityDriven
Scouting for Klipspringer
Out here, it’s all about patience and a sharp eye. Our PH spotted this Klipspringer through the binoculars from a distance. These little antelope live in some of the roughest, rockiest terrain—where most game won’t go. They are arguably one of the most difficult to hunt of the Tiny Ten. Hunting them is all about the challenge. It’s the tough terrain, the sharp cliffs, and the hunt itself that makes it rewarding.

Bringing Water to Bushmanland: Conservation in Action
In the heart of Bushmanland, Namibia, an incredible transformation is happening, and we're proud to be part of it. Through our conservation efforts, funded by ethical hunting and the generous support of hunters, we are bringing clean, running water to remote areas where it's desperately needed.
One of our most impactful initiatives involves drilling boreholes in rural villages. For many of these communities, access to fresh water is life-changing. It’s more than just a convenience; it's about survival. Without these boreholes, families would have to travel long distances to find water, often in harsh conditions, while wildlife would struggle to survive in the arid landscape.
This is where your support comes in. Every time a hunter embarks on a safari with us, they aren’t just pursuing their passion for the outdoors – they’re contributing directly to projects like these that uplift local communities and protect the natural environment. Ethical hunting funds conservation programs that ensure wildlife populations thrive, while also giving back to the people who live side by side with nature in this remarkable region.
As you watch these videos, you'll see our team working tirelessly in the water to make sure these boreholes are installed properly and that the water flows steadily. It's a labor of love, and the results are clear: healthier communities, thriving wildlife, and a sustainable future for all.
We believe that true conservation is about balance – helping local communities while safeguarding the environment for generations to come. And none of it would be possible without the hunters who choose to make a difference through their actions.
Join us on this journey of conservation and community upliftment. Together, we’re building a future where both wildlife and people flourish in harmony.
