Emirates Air Line, the UK’s first urban cable car, has been launched, giving people a new way to cross London’s River Thames.
Passengers can take a ‘flight’ up to 90 meters above one of the world’s most famous waterways, and enjoy views of the City, Canary Wharf, historic Greenwich, the Thames Barrier and the Olympic Park.
The new crossing located in east London is available for pedestrians, wheelchair users and cyclists. Passengers can board one of 34 cabins every 30 seconds, from the two terminals – Emirates Greenwich Peninsula and Emirates Royal Docks. The journey takes up to 10 minutes across the 1.1 kilometer cable line.
