One of the more dangerous areas on any vessel, always run through the risks and how to avoid them. Working at sea can be extremely dangerous at times, wear your PPE, do your risk assessments, open work permits and look after yourselves and your fellow crew members.

To all of our loyal and amazing South African Yachties clients…
We would like to introduce you to Taelin Jones and Justin Hockey – the NEW OWNERS of South African Yachties!!
As some of you know I have extended my own family recently, and now have entirely too many children to also run the company to its fullest potential LOL ;-)
So I am handing over the torch to these two very capable ex-yachties.

South African Yachties will carry on with all the visa services we have always offered, but keep an eye out for some exciting new services coming your way!
Nannette, Shalom and Phelo are still available on their usual contact numbers and emails to assist you with your visa applications, but instead of contacting me you can now contact Taelin or Justin to assist you with anything else you might need.

On a personal note, I’d like to say thank you. Thank you to you, our loyal clients and all of our service providers for all the support over the years. Thank you to Nannette, Jackie, Debbie, Shalom and Phelo – my work family - you all rock! We have built up something very special here, and you should all be very proud, I certainly am. Thank you to my husband and kids for putting up with all my years of late nights and long hours growing this company. I look forward to getting some much-needed down time to spend with my family.

With all this new energy, excitement and focus, I look forward to watching Taelin Claire Jones and Justin Hockey take South African Yachties to new heights!! x x

Good news to start the month!!!!! :)

South Africa has been moved from orange to GREEN country.

And FROM 14 MARCH, it will no longer be necessary to have a pass sanitaire.

which means fully vaccinated South Africans with either J&J or Pfizer can not only travel to France but also take part in all activities without the health pass/QR code.

Unvaccinated South Africans will also be able to travel provided they have a negative PCR test done 72h before boarding or a negative antigen test 48 h before boarding

Translation from the prime minister Jean Castex statement :

From Monday March 14, wearing a mask will no longer be compulsory indoors in all places where it was until then (companies, administrations and shops), except in "collective passenger transport" (planes, trains, etc) and health establishments, said the Prime Minister.

In addition, the Prime Minister announced the end of the vaccination pass, also from March 14. The health pass will however remain in force in medical establishments, such as hospitals and nursing homes, as well as the vaccination obligation which applies to caregivers, said Jean Castex.

From today, 12th February 2022 for *fully vaccinated passengers -
the requirement of a pre-departure pcr or antigen test in order to travel to France has been scrapped.
Non vaccinated travellers however will still need a compelling reason to travel to France plus a pre-departure negative 72 hour PCR or a 48 hour antigen test

* Fully vaccinated for entry into the EU and France, means being double jabbed and the booster administered no later than 9 months since the second dose.
However, for the exchange of the SA vaccination certificate to the French 'pass vaccin' (activities pass) this delay is reduced to 4 months since the second dose
There is no change for travel to South Africa, a pre-departure 72 hour pcr is still required

Hey all! So we have just about finished with the first phase of the new crew video page we previously posted you about. It looks awesome!! If you want to join to increase your chances of employment from SA (or wherever you are), follow the steps below :-D If you don't have the info on the crazy idea yet, here it is:

So the idea is to create a platform where you can be seen by captains and crew agents (private group so you won’t be able to see your post or any of your friends posts), and they can have information given to them about the process of visas and immigration for non-Schengen country residents (this would be in the form of a video with SA Yachties and several shipping agents from different Schengen countries).

This platform would give you an opportunity to be seen in a “real life” scenario by doing a video recorded on our awesome technology and you can have your say and explain how you would ease the employers concerns about hiring a non-resident, and of course telling them a bit about you and your experience. Don’t panic, this will be prerecorded so you can practice until it looks great! 😉
We will explain to you what they are so worried about and some suggestions about what you can do to ease that concern. I am hoping that because it will be free for them to employ you from this platform and they will have a lot of their concerns addressed by you and us (agents and SA Yachties), that you will become more employable!

Please let me know if you’d like to join in? It is free of charge. You will need to only:

· edit your cv into two formats that I give you – one for posting with no personal details, and one for me to send when an employer requests your cv.

SCAM ALERT: - The websites for ABL Shipping Ltd (www.ablshippingltd.com) and Maritime Centre UK (www.maritimecenterltd.com) look very professional and you could easily be fooled into thinking they were legitimate companies registered and working in the UK. BUT you would be WRONG because they are part of an elaborate scam to defraud seafarers

Once you apply for a job the scam starts with a request to complete an interview form and to submit personal documents, and is soon followed up with a request to pay $550 for a European Union Seafarers Certificate (there is no such certification in use).

Once this has been paid then they ask for $3,000 as a Travel Subsistence Allowance fee, which they say is required for the approval of a UK Work Permit (this is false!).

And if you pay these monies you will soon find out that there is no job and that they have cut all communication with you

ABL Shipping Ltd also have pages on Facebook and LinkedIn, so please don’t get fooled by them
