What is overlander Willem Rudolph's approach to trip planning? Look for mountain passes. “There’s a vast range of things you can experience around the next corner. It could be an off-camber, narrow path around the cliff face. It could be a deep river crossing. It could be a massive, rocky climb. You also see more beautiful places when you elevate, because it gives you a vantage point over the countryside,” he says. Happy World Wetlands Day! Victoria Falls National Park is one of seven Ramsar-designated wetlands in Zimbabwe. The spray and mist from the over 1km-wide waterfall can be seen up to 50km away. Victoria Falls National Park is home to 500 species of birds and an array of reptiles, amphibians and mammals. The Tracks4Africa Zimbabwe paper map has been a long time coming, but we believe it was worth the wait. One side of the map covers the entire country of Zimbabwe in 1:1,000,000 scale (1cm = 10km), while the back shows more detailed maps of Hwange, Mana Pools and Gonarezhou national parks. Matches on the Map, the overlanding expedition doubling up as a stem cell donor drive, closed off 2023 by heading for the Maluti Mountains outside Clarens. Since setting off in September last year, Robin and Jolandie have travelled to eSwatini, the northern KZN coast and the Midlands.
