A brand new luxury lodge seeks an experienced and motivated:
GENERAL MANAGER
📍 Location: Karoo
25km from town.
Salary: R30,000- R55,000 depending on experience, skill set and education.
Benefits: Accomodation and meals.
Reporting line: Directly to the owner.
Start Date: Immediate
Job Functions:
Financial Management – Budgets and cost controls/Administration/Human Resource Management and Recruiting/Hospitality Management/Sales and Marketing to drive up the occupancy/Farm and Game Management/Leisure, Travel, Tourism/Food and Beverages and Curio Shop Controls and management/Maintenance and Vehicles.
Day to day hands on, general management on site of the lodge in conjunction with the departmental managers including guest activities including game drives and walks etc, hosting, housekeeping, catering, curio shop, stock tasks, banking, accounts, administration, maintenance, staff management and liaising with officials and suppliers.
Growing and establishing a new tourism operation.
Driving the hospitality and safari offering so as to exceed guest expectations.
Managing and monitoring and answering Trip advisor and other review platforms.
Ensuring the maintenance and ongoing development of the environmental management Plan within the set framework. Maintaining all aspects of facilities and assets in the camp and back of house through best practice of hygiene and safety standards for both guests and staff.
Requirements:
• Degree or diploma in hospitality
• Or Diploma in Nature Conservation
• Or substantial tertiary education
• At least 5 years experience in Game Lodge industry Experience in handling local and overseas seasoned travelers
• Lodge Management background and knowledge of the Safari Lodge Business is preferable
• Computer skills (MS Office Suite) and Social Media
• Service excellence (desire to enhance Guest Experience)
• Strong understanding of business
• Excellent understanding in property management including wildlife regulations, farm management, fencing, roads, boreholes and solar
• Vehicle and farm equipment, generators, management and controls.
• Good understanding of plumbing, gas, electrical
• Safety and Security
• Very resourceful in getting the job done
• Communications and internet
• Management of staff (HR)
• Strong understanding of Food and Beverages
• Suitable candidate will be systems oriented with strong reporting skills and adherence to procedures
• Financial management, administration and cost control
• Excellent written and verbal communications in English
• Successful candidate must have their personal lives in order and be emotionally mature, physically fit and healthy and of sober habits.
