October Flashback Snapshot 🌍✨ What an exciting and action-packed month it was!
🇩🇪 While Brian immersed himself in his coaching course in Leipzig, he gained valuable insights into handball training techniques and explored all that the city had to offer.
🇰🇪 Meanwhile, our volunteers in Kenya settled in well, actively engaging with schools as the holidays approached. The girls’ team from kidsbeyondlimit competed in the Nairobi league and performed very well as the youngest team—well done!
🇿🇦 In South Africa, we celebrated the International Day of the Girl Child 2024 in Johannesburg, but our volunteers were also deeply involved in school activities, coaching handball and promoting teamwork and solidarity with their students. They even showcased their amazing work to a delegation from the Lower Saxony Ministry of Interior and Sport during a visit to St. Paul’s Primary School. It was a fantastic opportunity to exchange ideas and celebrate our shared passion for sport and education 🇿🇦 🤝 🇩🇪.
Moments like these remind us of the power of sport to bring people together. We can't wait to see what November has in store! 🥳

✨ Snapshot of our September - it was exciting again!
🧡 While we welcomed our new volunteers - Cecilia, Ella, Julia, Lisa, Robin and Jonas - in Kenya 🇰🇪, our volunteers in South Africa 🇿🇦 - Liv, Salome, Laurids, Mathis and Zoe - were settling into their communities and new homes and gaining their first experiences on the field.
🤍 At the same time, our Kenyan junior coach Brian Kithinji travelled to Leipzig, Germany 🇰🇪 ✈️ 🇩🇪 to attend the International Coaching Course for Handball Coaches at the University of Leipzig. 💪🏾
💚 We also launched our new pilot project in Meru County in Kenya in partnership with Rotary to bring handball to even more communities and schools.
And what's next? Stay tuned we'll keep you informed.

🧡✨ Supercup 🇰🇪 Flashback: Good Vibes!
After our successful Supercup in Kenya, we want to share more of the great impressions with you over the next few weeks.
💚 The joy of the Supercup was not only felt on the pitch, but also off the pitch, where the teams sang, cheered and celebrated their medals. The great atmosphere and high spirits of the teams were truly catching.

✨ Our July! As the Olympic Games kick off in Paris, activities in South Africa 🇿🇦 , Kenya 🇰🇪 and Tanzania 🇹🇿 continued with PLAY HANDBALL and our partners! 🧡🤍💚
🇰🇪 They are not Olympics yet, but the girls from Korogosho have won the school championships and qualified for the national championships. 🤾♂️🏆 Congratulations to the girls team, they played brilliantly! The schools also played against each other in Machakos, and although it was not enough to qualify for the national championships, it was still very exciting.
🇹🇿 In Tanzania, Lina has been busy coaching at Mlamleni and Luzando schools, but she has also started to introduce handball to other areas. She travelled to Vianzi for a week and even spent a few days in the mountains of Tanga. More and more schools are excited and want to play more handball.
🇿🇦 There were smiling and crying eyes in South Africa. On the one hand, we had to say goodbye to our volunteers Lilth, Hendrik and David, who are now back in Germany. At the same time we welcomed Frank from @hvshoffiziell . In addition to the regular training in the schools, our main focus was on teacher training in schools in the Cape Town region. 🏫
💚 And that's not all. There will be more workshops in Johannesburg in August, followed by a Supercup in Kenya and an intergenerational tournament in Tanzania at the end of August. We will keep you posted.

🇿🇦 🏫Amazing Participation! ✨ 78 participants took part in our workshop series "Handball in School" in Cape Town, given by our guest lecturer from Handballverband Schleswig-Holstein e.V. Frank Hamann.
The interest was great and the teachers from different schools in and around Cape Town enjoyed the practical workshop. We are delighted with the enthusiasm and interest in handball! We will continue to discuss with the schools how we can work together to provide more games for the children in the schools. 🤾🏽♀️🇿🇦🏫🤾🏽
🗓️ Our workshops in Cape Town:
* 29-07: Delft, Curro High School
* 30-07: Salt River, Cecile Road Primary School
* 31-07: Lotus River, Buck Road Primary School
* 01-08: Kuilsriver, Soneike High School
💚 Big Thanks again to Handballverband Schleswig-Holstein e.V. and also to the DHTV (Deutsche Handball Trainer Vereinigung) for the donation of equipment that we will use in the next upcoming school tournaments as prices. 🧡

Once again, a lot happened at PLAY HANDBALL in May! 🧡🤍💚
💚 These include highlights such as the Kenyan School Championships in Machakos 🇰🇪 with @seb.in.kenia or the preparation of our future volunteers, as well as the first school tournament at Cecil Road Primary School in Cape Town 🇿🇦 organized by @kati.sml and @lilith_in_za. 🤾♂️🏆 The activities at schools in South Africa are slowing down a bit, as exams approaching with the end of term 2.
⚡ But we also had to deal with setbacks 🇰🇪: The rains in Kenya stopped handball training for two weeks and caused a lot of chaos and damage in the affected regions. Fortunately, the rain stoppen and everyday life is returning to normal.
🧡 Meanwhile, PLAY HANDBALL founder Nicola was traveling in Germany 🇩🇪 to lecture a course at the university in Lüneburg and she paid a visit to the South African embassy in Berlin. 🌏
We are already looking forward to June, which has more special events in store.

Why is team sports and handball so important for children and youth?
In a time of individuality, PE teacher Lorenz Völker from the DSJ emphasises the importance of handball: "When playing handball, you're forced to integrate into a team and support it. As well as you are supported by a team." 🧡
Handball teaches children and youth life skills like teamwork, communication, and fairness. It promotes physical fitness, strategic thinking, and creates a community where friendships flourish. 💚
Handball is more than just a game; it's a life school that shapes young people into confident and responsible members of our society. 🌏 Let's promote the significance of team sports like handball.

🤾♂️ The tournament wasn't just about handball highlighted Innocent the educational significance of the tournament: “We used handball as a tool to facilitate and educate on environmental awareness and drug abuse.”
Led by our amazing coordinators, Innocent (@innocentkanoavova), Farai (@Malmu Kuno ), and Simba (Simbarashe Michael Gochera a), we're on a mission to create a sustainable future for Zimbabwe's youth.
