The Tourism Business Council of South Africa has officially launched the Trevor Noah Tourism Campaign for South Africa, a collaboration with the globally acclaimed comedian. 😊
This is a wonderful and humorous tribute to our beautiful country. A country that offers so much more, from adventure to luxury and wildlife to ocean activities - we have it all!
This is South Africa. 🇿🇦

Happy #WorldTourismDay!🌍
We might be biased but in a world full of places to see, Africa has so many gems. From breath-taking landscapes, vibrant cultures, incredible wildlife and some of the most iconic landmarks in the world - whether it's in Southern Africa or the Indian Ocean Islands – our Amazing Africa has it all!
To celebrate #WorldTourismDay, South African Tourism recently launched a new video featuring our great global advocate, Springbok captain, Siya Kolisi and in it he shows what makes South Africa so special - our warm and friendly people of course.😉🇿🇦
This is a proud moment for South African Tourism!😀

Happy Friday! Our Nadine had a memorable journey through Rwanda also known as the land of a Thousand Hills.⛰️
When you think about Rwanda, you're probably automatically think about Gorillas too, but this small country has so much more to offer. 😁
Here are some magical moments captured by Visit Rwanda:

September is a month of celebrations in South Africa.🥳
1. Tourism Month is celebrated annually in September.
2. It also marks the start of Spring and the vibrant West Coast Flower Route is in full bloom!🌺
3. Whale watching is at its peak, where you can catch a glimpse of the Southern Right Whales that migrate here every year to calf.🐋
Here's a #ThrowbackThursday to our Mirjam and Kerstin spotting a whale while enjoying a drink at the SkyBar in Hermanus. It is the perfect time to travel down South.😉

The wildebeest have taken a very brave leap in a desperate attempt to safely cross the croc-infested Mara River in the Northern Serengeti, but the action does not end there, those fortunate to reach the other side now face more hungry predators waiting expectantly.🐾
This is one of the world's great wildlife spectacles!

Happy #FunFactMonday.
Did you know although lion cubs are already interested in hunting at only one years old, these skills will only be proficient at around two years old? The cubs are often seen watching the adults as they hunt, and it's the females in the pride that teach these cubs this essential skill.
Here is some lion cub cuteness to start your week right. 🦁

If you're looking for a sign that it's time to visit our Amazing Africa, here it is. 😉
We could watch our "Bush-TV" all day.

Happy #WorldPenguinDay! Today, marks World Penguin Day as it coincides with the Adelie penguin's yearly migration cycle. We are celebrating these flightless birds and all of the traits that make them unique (and pretty darn cute, too 😉).
Here are a few facts about the African penguin that you might not have known:
1. African penguin's have pink glands above their eyelids to which they can transfer blood to help cool down in the hot summer months. The pinker a penguin's brow glands become, the hotter it is.
2. The African penguin's black and white coloring is a sort of counter-shading camouflage that also allows them to easily coordinate movement underwater.
3. African penguin's were once known as jackass penguins because they produce a donkey-like braying sound.
We can watch them for hours, how about you? 😍

Fridays don't get much better than this. 😉
Throwback to our Mirjam and Kerstin's recent trip to Siviti
We're not sure if it's the interiors, food, landscape or the fact that the lodge blends seamlessly into the landscape - whatever the case, it ticked all of our boxes.

Some sentinels take their job more seriously than others, the higher the lookout, the better. 😉
Did you know there are few animals on Earth who work as well together as meerkats. These squirrel-size members of the mongoose family live in groups as large as 40, and everyone in the mob participates in gathering food, keeping a look out for predators, and taking care of the babies.

Cheers to the first week of 2023!🍹🥂
Here is Tharo from Time + Tide Africa, making his favourite cocktail: Pimm's O'Clock (That literally implies lazy, happy days sitting in the sun with nothing to do and no need to worry about time) to welcome guests to the enchanting Lower Zambezi.
You’ll need:
Ice, to fill the jug
200ml Pimm’s No 1
600ml Carbonated Lemonade
1 sprig mint leaves
1 small cucumber, sliced
1 medium orange, sliced
½ cup of strawberries, hulled and halved
To serve:
+ Gather the ingredients
+ Fill a glass jug with ice
+ Mix the Pimm’s with lemonade in
the jug. For a single serving, go
with one part of Pimm’s per three
parts of lemonade
+ Lightly crush the mint in your
hand to release the scent and
oils. Add it to the Pimm’s along
with the cucumber slices, orange
slices and strawberry quarters
+ Stir with a long-handled spoon
and serve in tall glasses with ice
F.Y.I this cocktail is best enjoyed watching elephants lumber past whilst hippos snort loudly in the river below. 😉🐘

If you want to get your blood pumping, get down to Oribi Gorge in KwaZulu Natal for the Wild Gorge Swing.
Standing at the top of Lehr's Waterfall you will leap off the edge and dive into the depths of this 165 meter gorge where you will swing from one side to the other. This is the highest swing in the world and is equivalent to launching off a 55 storey building. On your decent you can reach a total speed of 120 kilometers per hour.
Would you dare taking a leap of faith? 😉

Our Vicky and Carmen will tell you that the best way (second to hiking) to explore the landscapes of Grootbos Private Nature Reserve is on horseback. 🐎 Included in all of their stays is a lovely horse riding experience with one of their good-natured horses and passionate guides. Taking you through fields of fynbos, this excursion allows for a different view of the Reserve and of course, the beautiful sand dunes and waters of the Walker Bay Reserve. During the Secret Season, horse riding is extra special, as the trails lead you through fields of flowering Erica irregularis and guests have the chance to view these pink beauties up close. 🌷 #myamazingafrica #discoverafrica #horseriding #grootbosnatureserve
Zip zip hooray! Our Jackie started September on a "high" note with Mpumalanga's longest Aerial Cable Trail and she's clearly got her takeoffs mastered. 😉 Adjacent to the Kruger National Park, the Aerial Cable Trail at Skyway Trails in Hazyview, takes you down into the valley basin, stopping along the way on a number of elevated platforms to admire the natural vegetation, birdlife and views of the forest floor below. #zipline #myamazingafrica #skywaytrails #mpumlangatourism
One, two, bungee!
Our Ryan was brave enough to take a leap off the Bloukrans Bridge, and as far as adrenaline rushes go, you don't get much better than this. The beautiful surroundings don't hurt either. 😉
The Bloukrans Bridge, at 216m, is the highest commercial bridge bungee jump in the world and is found along the scenic Garden Route, offering one of the most spectacular bungee jumps in South Africa, if not the world.
Are you brave enough to take a leap?

It’s International Tiger Day!
Tiger populations have decreased by more than 95% since the turn of the 20th century, despite being among the most beautiful and popular animals in the world, and although cheetahs, leopards and lions are known to roam the plains of South Africa, set against the unique backdrop of the Great Karoo in the Free State Province of South Africa, Tiger Canyon is home to a growing population of rewilded tigers.
Tiger Canyon is a partnership between humans, an ecosystem and endangered species set on the banks of the dam. The tigers at Tiger Canyon have found a home far from their normal Asian habitat where they are one of the top 10 most endangered animal species in the world, and the lodge, the cats, the clear night skies, the golden colours of the sunlight hours of the day and the huge Vanderkloof Dam all add up to a spiritual, almost surreal experience.
What can you do to protect them?
🐅 Spread awareness - share as much information as you can about the plight of the tiger with family and friends.
🐅 Be a responsible tourist and leave areas of nature as you found them when travelling.
🐅 Say no to the illegal wildlife trade - be mindful of what you are purchasing when abroad.
