This journey takes a train ride from the savannahs of the Highveld to the Atlantic in the west. It departs from Pretoria and makes its first stop in Kimberley, which is famous for diamond rushes. Here, guests have an opportunity to experience the atmosphere of a mining village from the 1870s. The train then travels through the Northern Cape's stark vistas to reach Fish River Canyon - the second-largest canyon globally - and Garas Park, which is home to a quiver-tree forest. The journey continues through the untamed beauty of the Kalahari Desert to a cheetah conservation project. Guests also get a chance to stop in Windhoek, Namibia's capital, to take a tour. Windhoek is a lively, cosmopolitan city with a strong German influence. After that, guests take a short flight to Sossusvlei, a stunning pan in the Namib Desert, for an overnight stay. The train then proceeds to the game-rich Etosha National Park for another night. On the last morning, the train travels through the Namibia to reach the perfectly preserved 19th-century German Hansa town of Swakopmund and Walvis Bay, which is an unforgettable end to a remarkable journey. I have now twice worked with her on a blue train trip and now a Victoria Falls train booking for my daughter. She cannot be more accommodating and professional and am aware that dealing with overseas customers is not always easy. She is always prompt in replying, detail orientated and follows up on every detail. I know I am in safe hands with her and would recommend her to any of my friends and family.

As it’s our birthday month, we’d like to take a moment to reflect on the little things that we feel have helped us build our company into what it is today.

We are very proud of the fact that Rovos Rail is a privately owned and family-run company. As such, we believe each trip should have a familial quality – something that makes guests feel like they will be cared for from the moment they arrive until we say our final goodbyes.

To help accomplish this, Rohan, our CEO, has established a small but impactful tradition that Tiffany, our COO, will carry over to the next generation.

The Ivory Manor Boutique Hotel was exquisite. Truly the best we've ever experienced. Beautiful surroundings and outstanding service. We were sad to leave so quickly.

The Blue Train - South Africa experience was fabulous. Food was amazing, considering it's cooked in such a small kitchen - it was fresh and quick. Service was outstanding. They couldn't have done more to help us. The only drawback was running out of water for over 12 hours because of the delay in getting out of Gauteng. We realise these delays are often unavoidable, but the impact is significant.

Altogether an amazing experience - thanks so much for your service

Just wanted to give you some feedback.

The trip on the Rovos was outstanding. Excellent service, professional staff, wonderful deco of the train, good food and wine, and the unit (Delux) was comfy and daily cleaned. The day trips were well organized. We had a really enjoyable time, and sundowners in the bush were amazing. Once we got to Vic Falls, the magic continued. The hotel was suburb, the rainforest trip, and the cruise, were both exceptional, breath-taking and splendid. Everyone (Wild Horizons) and hotel staff were so kind, friendly, polite, and did such a good job.

We are seriously thinking about doing it again next year with friends.
