The Penguin Palooza is back! - a visit to the African penguin colony at Stony Point is allready a 'must do' when booking your weekend with Be in Betty's Bay but it's just got a whole lot better now that you can see and learn about the penguins release back into the wild after spending time at the SANCOB 'spa'.

We are delighted to announce that the Penguin Palooza is back with full force. This event will take place on 26 October 2024 and will include a viewing of the very popular penguin release. The day aims to create awareness about the important role that African penguins play within our marine ecosystems. We’ve listed a brand new property - Karuna Cottage- the perfect romantic getaway for couples!
Karuna Cottage is a quiet couple’s breakaway conveniently located within a short 5-minute stroll to the white sand of Silversands Beach. The cottage is accessed via a gated entrance and pathway partially shared with the owner who resides at the main house behind the cottage. This shared pathway is the only space on the property shared with the owner and once reaching the cottage, you are guaranteed complete privacy as the cottage’s outside space is completely closed off with a wooden fence. When in residence, the owners only use their private garden on the opposite side of the cottage and are committed to respecting guests’ privacy.
The open-plan living space has a clear roof with wooden slats and stacking doors spanning the room’s width, complete with a large rock inside the entrance, creating the illusion of being outside while indoors safe from wind or rain. The stacking doors can be fully opened on warm days to welcome the garden completely into the living space.
The main feature of the kitchenette is the built braai area displaying a quirky non-working clock to remind one that there is no need to keep time to enjoy a braai. Apart from fire-side cooking, the kitchen has an air fryer, microwave and a 2-plate gas hob.
At the indoor/outdoor living space entrance is a rustic wood-enclosed hot- and cold water shower to wash away the beach sand before stepping into the stylish luxury of the only bedroom with its comfortable queen-size bed and an en-suite bathroom fitted with a shower, built-in dresser and private toilet.
