The Black Marlin Restaurant in Millers Point offers a stunning view while you dine, making it a hidden gem that's not so secret. It's a popular wedding venue, but also open to the public. If you're in the South Peninsula, it's definitely worth a visit.

It might be a good idea to call ahead and book so that you can be sure that there is not a function or a large group booking.

1) Extra swimming towels: if you plan on being in the water a lot weather it be the ocean, or our Hot tub, we suggest bringing 2 swimming towels: with the weather changing, towels don't always dry fast enough.

2) Wetsuit and boogie boards: the ocean is amazing this time of year in terms of clarity but IT'S COLD! Bring a wetsuit if you plan on enjoying some ocean activities (especially for kids)

3) Diving / snorkelling gear: There are plenty of amazing dive sites for snorkelling and scuba diving so remember to pack your gear! If you don't have, we can recommend a couple of places that rent out gear. Or check out some and sign up for a snorkelling outing.

4) Enough warm clothes: you can experience up to 4 different seasons in Cape Town, in 1 day. Especially if you are travelling from 1 part of town to another. Pack enough warm clothes like jersey's and jackets. The wind can also be super icy in area's like Boulders Beach and Cape Point.

5) Hiking gear for the adventurers: if you are an avid hiker / adventurer, don't forget your walking shoes! It's recommended that you walk in larger groups or hiking groups so please check out on sites like MeetUp for local groups.

That time of the month again when we prepare for the next month's bookings. We get all their welcome boxes ready, I make sure I understand all the special requests of each guest, we plan the housekeeping schedule and laundry and make sure that we have enough stock of all the amentities that we include (milk, tea, toilet paper etc).

It's so important to have systems, and to have a day to plan for the month ahead.

Here are some of our local favourite places to grab a bite to eat!

1) Live Bait Kalk Bay: one of the most stunning views of False Bay and delicious, fresh seafood right on the Kalk Bay Harbour. A must with family and friends

2) Blended Health Cafe: our go to for breakfast! We really love love love this place and recommend it to all our guests for a breakfast. They recently started doing dinner on a Friday and Saturday and they are open all day with some hearty lunches too. 📷

3) Blue Water Cafe at Imhoff Farm: a great place for the family to go for lunch where the children can run wild and parents can enjoy scrumptious food, cold beverages and gorgeous views.

4) Beira Mar Restaurant: if you want to be blown away by a seafood platter, I highly suggest you get really hungry and go enjoy their seafood platter for 2. It's an event! 📷

5) Black Marlin Restaurant: if you are looking for a birds eye view over False Bay, with some fresh oysters and cold bubbly, then this is the place to go! They recently reopened to the general public but this is also a fantastic venue for weddings and other special events. 📷

There is a lot that we have to deal with as a society but we must remember to switch off and live in the present. Take is slow, turn off the phone and connect with those that matter the most to you!

It fills your cup and gives you the energy to carry on.

As short-term rental hosts, we have a responsibility to be environmentally conscious and do our part to reduce our carbon footprint. By implementing eco-friendly practices in our properties, we can not only help protect the planet, but also provide a more enjoyable and sustainable experience for our guests.

2 ways we instantly became more eco-friendly this weekend:

1) replaced all single use kitchen sponges with reusable sponges. These sponges get washed and sterilised between each stay.

2) We have replaced all our single use plastic amenity bottles with beautiful dispensers and purchase our soap, lotion and shampoo in bulk 5L containers so that we can refill as needed. (all from )

What's next?
1) As we replace lightbulbs, we will replace them with energy efficient LED bulbs.
2) All our wood that will be burnt in our fireplaces this winter will be invasive species only.
3) We will also be getting environmentally friendly fire starters for the fireplaces.
4) We will also be starting to use (as we replace empties) eco-friendly cleaning products!
5) We will put containers into each apartment for compost waste and send it off to a neighbour who makes compost for the community gardens

As short-term rental hosts, we have a unique opportunity to make a positive impact on the environment and the communities we operate in. By moving towards sustainability, we can reduce our carbon footprint, save money, and attract guests who share our values. 🌍💚

Our first step, was to move away from single use plastics and mass produced products to something more natural and more locally made.

We decided to get our body wash, shampoo/conditioner and body lotion from , located in a small town called Tulbagh. I'm already super impressed! These products will be dispensed from glass bottles and we are able to refill as needed from the large 5L bottles.

Get ready for some eco-friendly, luxury showering!!🚿

If you like what you smell, feel and experience, we have purchased some extra bottles for those who want to take a bottle home whilst waiting for their own order to arrive.

- 15 minutes to trendy Kalk Bay
- 10 minutes to Penguin Colony & Simons Town
- 30 minutes to Cape Point
- 20 minutes to Chapmans Peak drive (gorgeous sunsets)
- 5 pristine beaches between 5 - 15 minutes away

4) Private balcony: you are able to relax on the balcony come rain or shine with our pull down blinds.

5) Super fast WI-FI: we have installed UPS devices on all the routers so there is no downtime with our infamous loadshedding. Digital nomads: YOU ARE WELCOME!
