We’re all about being real
We’ll try to keep it short, we’re family: Gustav and Rianda are brother and sister, and Rianda and Charl are getting married in the Garden Route in the next year. Gustav undertook some travelling to Europe in 2016 and has since travelled to a few destinations to film including Mauritius and Iceland. Charl and Rianda sold all their belongings at the end of 2016 and travelled the world. It was on our travels that a fire started kindling in our hearts:
We all loved travelling. Being tourists however, meant that we easily fell into what is often called ‘tourist-traps’. We all found that as soon as you had some local knowledge the real journey started, and this is in essence the heart of Like A Local – authentic travelling is done best with local knowledge.
We all also love the Garden Route (like we really love this place). Situated along the Southern Cape Coast between Heidelberg and the Tsitsikamma Forest, the region is characterised by magnificent mountains and gorgeous lush vegetation stretching to the ocean. It’s hard to describe it, because it’s not just it’s natural elements that makes it such a magical place, it’s the people, the culture and the ‘feels’ you get when you are here. We wanted to share that with people from all over the world.
The kindling soon burst into flames, and Like A Local started materialising. We started creating innovative tours based on local knowledge and authenticity, to welcome travellers who know that the best kind of holiday is based on local knowledge, to the Garden Route.
