SPOTLIGHT ON: CUTTY SARK HOTEL

The Cutty Sark Hotel is situated at the top of Nzou Drive at Lake Kariba, in Zimbabwe. From here you get a spectacular view on the lake and the Matusadona Mountains. The Cutty Sark is known as a family-friendly destination, but it also provides facilities for conferencing.

Guests at the Cutty Sark are accommodated in 48 rooms: there are 30 twin, six family and 12 deluxe rooms. The rooms are surrounded by beautiful gardens. All rooms are en-suite, have ceiling fans, are fitted with window rosters and nets, but only the deluxe rooms have TV. Many rooms have their own covered balcony or veranda.

Guests can expect a laid-back and relaxed atmosphere. The hotel has a swimming pool and a flatscreen TV and for those who need a connection, the hotel also has a Wi-Fi hotspot. Parents can leave their children behind in a games room with TV, videos and games. Since Cutty Sark lies on Lake Kariba, visitors will also get the opportunity to go on a boat cruise, game drive or fishing trip. The hotel also has a tennis court, trampoline, darts, pool table and volley ball.

Some excellent cuisine is served in the dining room and a bar provides drinks for the thirsty traveler. The restaurant can hold up to 110 guests.

For the business minded Cutty Sark has a conference venue that can accommodate 200 people. Guests who have trouble fixing their itinerary don’t need to fret - there are other tour operators based in the hotel.

Cutty Sark is in need of an upgrade but the hotel certainly offers value for money. The staff are very friendly and the views and wildlife spectacular.
