Why
I have started this page in order to create tourism, and activism for the issues for the Amathole and Wild Coast area. It is an area well known to me as I grew up in this region. My father was a farmer and then water specialist for the Transkei and Ciskei areas. My Great grandfather imported the first tractors to South Africa and was based in King Williams Town. We call the area home.
This page is about much more than the Amathole and Wild Coast area it is also about the exploitation of land without compensation. Issues being looked at include the government exploiting land without consulting the local who’s land it is and without compensation for grievous wrongs wrought on those locals.
I remember my parents fight against Titanium mining where our home was because of the destruction it brought with it. Titanium mining is open cast dust mining which brings lung infections. South Africa is rich in this ore but until better methods of mining are proved the people will stand against it being mined and destroying the nature of this beautiful area.
