A weekend escape to heaven: The Hemel en Aarde wine valley 🍇

A few weekends ago, we had the pleasure of escaping to the beautiful coastal town of Hermanus, just outside Cape Town. Known for its exquisite natural surroundings and the renowned Hemel en Aarde (Heaven and Earth) wine valley, it was the perfect couples' getaway for us burnt out parents.

Wanting to relax, we chose our activities carefully:

A special evening everyone should experience ✨️

Last month, we enjoyed a private dinner that showcased the culinary skills of Chef Herorose () in a divine villa setting. His charming and down-to-earth personality enhanced the presentation of his refined dishes, backdropped by an exceptional sunset that lingered long into the night.

Alongside our meal, we were treated to selections from Great Heart Wine Company. Founded by Andrea & Chris Mullineux, this venture supports sustainable and ethical practices and is entirely employee-owned. The wines, cultivated in regions like Swartland, Stellenbosch, and Elgin, are not only notable for their quality but also for the community empowerment they foster.

In short - they were superb!

These gatherings remind me of how a special and intimate evening can crafted by personalised services that truly celebrate what we have to offer in Cape Town.

✨️ Delighting in Langebaan, a gorgeous city break on the West Coast 🥰

The wild West Coast is the elemental sister of the famous Garden Route in South Africa. Exceptionally beautiful and home to nature reserves, unspoilt beaches, amazing accommodation options and unique restaurants (like Die Strandloper pictured here), this is a favourite area of ours to take a short break from the city.

This time around, we found a delightful spot to stay in Langebaan - the kids just loved the pool - which allowed us to explore this corner of the coast at our own pace, revelling in the fun and peace in equal measures.

The fact that this is only 1 hour 30min from Cape Town has it on my list of recommended destinations for guests who want to explore further afield.

So, take this as a sign to get out there and know there is more to see than just the Mother City 😉

Delighted by guests visiting Cape Town during the winter and having a great time here at Levalux. Andres stayed at our Villa Daria, a brand-new home located in the wind-free residential area of the Glen. This is one of the best locations in Camps Bay that offers easy access to Lions Head’s hiking trail, to the beach (within walking distance) and to the promenade which is full of amazing bars and restaurants. Due to the unique architecture, the house offers complete privacy from the outside, especially around the pool area. Lion’s Head is a famous Cape Town hike, but this view from Oppelskop could arguably be even better! I love this trail as it offers a 360 view of Cape Town and Table Mountain, is much quieter and perhaps an easier hike than Lion’s Head.
