African Expeditions African Expeditions was born from a humble idea back in 1987. We take the “been there, done that” approach.

More than two decades ago an opportunity presented itself that helped me convert my passion into something I absolutely love to do – private self-drive Safaris with full support. We are a family-owned and run business that proudly wears the title of Pioneers in the Self-Drive Safari Market in Africa. We were the first self-drive operator to offer full logistical support in extremely remote areas t

We pride ourselves in offering the very best Africa has to offer to our clients. We do not work through 3rd parties and firmly believe in talking directly and honestly with all of our clients. Justin is currently in the area with a Safari and a decision was made to rather follow the main road via Nata. Please remember this is you Holiday do not take any changes with deep water crossings!

After an absence of 20 years we return!
Forbidden land – An deep Namib Self-drive Adventure into the heart of the Skeleton Coast to Saddelhill.
This must be one of the very last real adventures a Family can partake in – Recently we returned after the Saddelhill Camp was restored as part of a long term concession grated to Desert Magic Tours.
The 4x4 dune driving took some very serious skills and we rate the crossing of the dune belt 4 out of 5 with no room for error, our Guide and Desert Expert was Volker Jahnke.
The drive back into history after 20 years cannot be described in words and even the stormy South Easter wind was no problem as we had the comfort and Shelter of the Basecamp.
But let the pictures do the talking ….. we will be back in 2025 for more!
