Who needs a BMW 1200GS when you have a pikipiki that can haul an entire party's worth of cooldrinks? This little engine must be running on soda-power! How many crates do you think he has on there?🙃 Tanzania is full of smaller cc bikes, carrying passengers, everything and anything. Travelling from the Usambara Mountains, we can start to feel the coastal vibes of the Tanga region.

Chasing rainbows. 🌈 Caught this magical one! Did you know that every rainbow is actually a circle of light and the centre of the rainbow is where your shadow would fall? Therefore we see only part of the arc when on level ground. If you are in an aeroplane or somewhere on top of a mountain where your shadow would be above ground, you may be able to see the whole circle. Have a happy weekend!

Arusha is a bustling city and known as the safari capital of Tanzania's Northern Safari Circuit. Here you can find an interesting mix of old colonial buildings, colourful markets, cosy coffee shops, many great restaurants and modern shops amid some seriously chaotic traffic! We also like to stop at Shanga, a social enterprise which employs people with disabilities to create unique and high-quality handmade jewelry, glassware and homeware incorporating recycled materials. It is an inspiring place with beautiful keepsakes to take home after a memorable Tanzania experience. 🇹🇿

Our ride took us along the edge of Lake Mburo National Park in Uganda.

Zebra, warthogs and impala all came out to enjoy the views of our motorcycles. A few mud puddles and stunning greenery made for a great day out.

A puncture allowed us to rest a bit but if you are prepared, have the right tools and know-how to fix it this is just part of the trip and not a setback.

The people of Tanzania love motorcycles or pikipiki as they are called in KiSwahili, the local language. We stop often along the road and are always welcomed with a lot of interest. The first thing everybody is looking for is always the chain (or abscence thereof in our case). Then they want to know how fast it goes and how much does it cost. These interactions with the locals make traveling in Africa an awesome experience. We even got a chance to play a game or two of pool (which we lost 🤣).
