Everybody has heard of “The Big Five”, lion, leopard, rhinoceros, elephant, and African buffalo, but did you know that there is also a “Little Five”?
The buffalo weaver, leopard tortoise, lion ant, the rhino beetle and this little guy, the elephant shrew.

Try to travel, otherwise
you may become racist,
and you may end up believing
that your skin is the only one
to be right,
that your language
is the most romantic
and that you were the first
to be the first.
Travel,
because if you don’t travel then
your thoughts won’t be strengthened,
won’t get filled with ideas.
Your dreams will be born with fragile legs and then you end up believing in tv-shows, and in those who invent enemies
that fit perfectly with your nightmares
to make you live in terror.
Travel,
because travel teaches
to say good morning to everyone
regardless of which sun we come from.
Travel,
because travel teaches
to say goodnight to everyone
regardless of the darkness
that we carry inside
Travel,
because traveling teaches to resist,
not to depend,
to accept others, not just for who they are
but also for what they can never be.
To know what we are capable of,
to feel part of a family
beyond borders,
beyond traditions and culture.
Traveling teaches us to be beyond.
Travel,
otherwise you end up believing
that you are made only for a panorama
and instead inside you
there are wonderful landscapes
still to visit.

What a nice surprise that the Giraffe came to pose for some pictures.
Our Greater Flamingo patient in the good hands of our vet Dr Perushan at Bryanston Avian, Exotic and Small Animal Clinic
Interesting facts about these birds.. Let's see. The word flamingo comes from the latin word for flame.
Food consists mostly of shrimp, algae and plant material. They feed by placing their beak in the water, sucking hard and then squeezing the water out, anything solid left behind is the good stuff. What is pretty cool is how long they live. Up to around 60 years old.
There was one in an Australian zoo who lived there for 83 years before they euthanased him because of complications due to old age. He was an adult when he arrived at the zoo, so anyone's guess how old he really was.
They are highly gregarious and will only breed if there are large numbers. They do this big group song and dance which signals the start of their breeding season. They're nicknamed the Honking goose because of the sound they make.
And finally, I know this will probably make you laugh a little. They choose a new breeding partner every season. Which equates to around 60 new partners in their life, with roughly the same amount of mother-in-laws😉
Lots of laughs and adventure!
Johan Hoffman contacted us this morning asking if we could relocate the owl that built this nest inside his roof.
We know from the photo that it isn't an owl, as owls don't build nests. But there is one particular bird that does build a home of this size. Anyone know who he is?😉

Chu Kitbumrung was with See My Country South Africa Safaris at Pilanesburg National Park. We couldn't decide if it was a giraffe day or elephant day because we saw lots of both😅. After a delicious lunch at the Pilanesberg Centre where the kudus and warthogs entertained us, Chu spent the night at Kwa Maritane Lodge where the elephants came to drink water at the waterhole and they could be seen up close from the secret underground hide. #wildlife #safari #thingstodoinsouthafrica

My special friend from highschool and I went adventuring to the Goddess Cafe in Waterkloof Pretoria in search of lunch, coffee and some girl chat time. The whimsical decor is an experience on its own! We were postively enchanted by the creatively named and bejeweled food and drinks that come in all shades of pinks and purples. Next time we will have to try the decadent cakes... Music: Let Go Musician: LiQWYD URL: / liqwyd Edited by YouCut:https://youcutapp.page.link/BestEditor

Feeding time at the money sanctuary in Hartebeespoort. The sanctuary takes in monkeys that people no longer can keep as pets (they don't make good pets) and gives them a chance to live in nature among their own kind. They love nuts and fruit and getting a free ride in the tub 😅

South African gumboots dance, this is one of South Africa's traditional dance which was invented during the mining era where miners were separated from their families. They used the slapping of their gumboots and rattling of their angle chains to communicate with each other in the darkness. #heritagemonth2023 #southafricantraditions #CulturalTours
