THE MONASTRY - PETRA, JORDAN. Different takes on the Monastry (except for the one). The Monastry is one of the largest monuments in Petra, and measures 47m wide and 48.3m high. It was constructed by the Nabateans during the early 2nd century AD and is remarkably well preserved. The Monastry sits at an elevation of 1,050m - it is quite a climb to get there, but worth the effort! Be sure to have water for the climb..
