The most effective way of customer service is by engaging customers through the POWER OF COMMUNICATION.

For instance, the customer should know exactly where to go from point A to B, what to expect and for how long to wait for an answer or feedback.

My son's teacher has created a WhatsApp group to communicate to parents. But this is a one way communication process. Meaning admin can only send messages without inputs from parents. I have a problem with that and believe communication should be a two way process.

At workplace, management should communicate messages, but allow feedback or inputs from subordinates. In fact, this bodes well during staff meetings. Management should adopt managerial humanistic approach by valuing employees and treating them as equal partners in decision making.

Same to customer service. The management should put suggestion boxes to encourage customer feedback and inputs.

To strengthen relationships or improve customer service, two way communication is key in business.

Customer service goes hand in hand with communication. This means you can't run an effective and efficient frontline or customer service without proper communication skills.

Therefore, you need to be well equiped with communication skills to communicate correct information at the right time.

Of course, part of communication are listening skills. Listening is making sense of what is heard. Thus, listening requires paying attention and interpreting messages as told. You listen attentively to avoid misunderstandings, arguments, unnecessary delays and mistakes.

You also need to understand the MISSION of your business to be able to communicate relevant and correct information

Finally, never make your customers wait too long without an explanation. Communicate the purpose of delay clearly, so to put them at ease.
